In a two-story villa, the mayor and his secretary, Linsk Semivich, were discussing something.

"As requested by the military, we've gathered the food, medicine, and fuel they need. This last shipment will reach the temporary base on schedule tomorrow. I'll escort it personally."

Secretary Linsk was a typical Feysac man, tall and strong, with a rugged, distinctly masculine face that looked weathered by wind and frost.

He looked more like a soldier who would solve problems with his fists rather than his brain, but he was indeed the mayor's secretary and had served him for over five years.

The mayor was a man in his fifties. Though he was no longer young and had grown a little thick around the waist, he still looked capable and efficient.

"Very good, Linsk. With you escorting it, I can rest easy. Remember to get their signature, so their quartermaster won't come making trouble for us later." The mayor opened a cabinet, poured a glass of Feyg Spirits, and handed it to his secretary.

Linsk took the glass but did not immediately drink. He frowned and said, "Mr. Mayor, I don't understand. Why are they gathering on the east side of the island? We don't have any enemies nearby."

The mayor poured himself a glass of Feyg Spirits as well. At the question, he said gravely, "That isn't something we should concern ourselves with. The military wants us to provide supplies, so we do our best to gather them and deliver them."

"As for anything else, don't ask questions or go prying."
