In the visitor area, which had already closed, Feysac guards hurried toward the main gate to assemble.
This made the two guards stationed at the Elf Garden very nervous.
"You two stay here. Don't leave your posts."
The captain in charge of them gave the order.
The younger of the two guards, a young man with brown hair and brown eyes, asked, "Captain, has something happened?"
"The Admiral of Stars and the Butcher have appeared in the city and started a huge fight in a bar. The city guards don't have enough men and have requested reinforcements. Since nobody visits the courtyard at night anyway, the higher-ups have transferred almost everyone over there."
The bearded captain hurried away after speaking.
The two garden guards exchanged glances, then began talking in low voices.
"What are two big-name pirates doing here? This isn't the sea, and Faust doesn't have any treasure. Why would they come here?"
"You're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask? Don't worry about it. Those higher up will deal with the pirates. We just need to keep watch here."
"What's there to guard in a garden? They might as well give us some time off."
"Stop complaining. At least we don't have to go into the city. I'm going on patrol. Keep watch here, and blow your whistle if anything happens."
The young guard glanced at the copper whistle in his breast pocket. "I probably won't need it, right? Igor, make sure you come back soon."
The other guard, Igor, waved. "Got it."
