Dragons and giants were Beyonder creatures that had long since gone extinct. Even relatively weak creatures like the Scaled Folk would have vanished into the dust of history long ago if not for the First Ancestor's protection.
Yet now, a Flame Dragon had appeared in the Scaled Folk Archipelago. No matter how one looked at it, this was no normal occurrence!
Moreover, the dragon itself was in an extremely abnormal state. Although it attacked and destroyed, it gave off a lifeless feeling, almost like a zombie.
Merinda briefly recalled the invasions the archipelago had suffered recently. Almost all those invaders had shared this trait. Whether they were treefolk covered in scales or feathered serpents with sinister green scales and pale flames burning in their eyes, those creatures had been just like this dragon: numb expressions, empty eyes, no intelligence, destroying and killing on instinct alone.
The villagers' cries of alarm and the children's wails soon brought Merinda back to her senses. She gripped a blue-and-gold trident, an item left behind by the First Ancestor and her own weapon.
Her gray hair suddenly fanned out, electricity dancing between its strands. The sky above her abruptly darkened as black clouds piled up, lightning flickering within them.
Merinda flew toward the dragon, her eyes gradually lighting up with electricity. As she raised her trident to thrust, a thick bolt of lightning crashed down from the sky, striking the trident and surging toward its tips, turning them entirely silver-white!
Amid the loud crackle of electricity, Merinda drove the trident hard into the dragon's forehead. Silver-white arcs, large and small, scattered in every direction.
The scales on the Flame Dragon's forehead burst off with a series of cracks, flying into the air and instantly turning pitch-black.
