Odys made a quick calculation. Bowen's bounty was 1,200 pounds, the two vice-captains' bounties added up to 1,500 pounds, and the two other wanted criminals totaled 700 pounds.
That meant the total bounty collected tonight was 3,400 pounds. Assuming they could only receive ninety percent, they would ultimately get around 3,060 pounds, or 1,530 pounds each.
Odys could not help sighing. No wonder so many people yearned for the sea. It truly held endless wealth!
But that was only if one had enough strength, was smart enough, and knew how to be patient.
Just like now. Although Odys had obtained 1,530 pounds in one go, he knew full well that opportunities like this would not come every day.
Never act without confidence. If you lost your life, no amount of money would matter.
What required patience was knowing that wealth seemed to lie everywhere before you, yet not becoming too greedy and losing your reason.
It was getting late, so Odys told Bazel to move about freely in Bayam for now and continue working as a bounty hunter. However, he was to visit the Witch Office often so he could notify Odys immediately if anything came up.
Bazel asked, "Captain, do you need me to recruit sailors in advance?"
"No." Odys smiled. "I've already recruited the sailors, gunners, combat team members, and so on.
"The first mate is in place now as well. All I lack are a second mate, a third mate, and a navigator."
It would not matter much if he had no third mate, but a second mate and navigator were indispensable.
Bazel nodded. "All right."
Then he asked, "Was Taylor here to besiege me tonight?"
"Probably." Odys said, "Cruel people like him usually have some psychological problems.
"He probably wanted to personally kill the avenger."
Bazel
