Bernadette had the illusion that what Odys had described was a mature "profession."
The new ship's self-destruct system was entrusted to an inconspicuous person. It sounded crazy, yet perfectly reasonable.
A Captain could easily become an enemy's target. If the enemy was too powerful, he could be taken out at the very beginning of a battle.
But if it was some unremarkable person, there might still be time to make a judgment and carry out the necessary actions.
Bernadette smiled. "It seems you prepared for today's situation long ago."
"More or less." Odys sounded somewhat guilty.
He remembered that nuclear submarines from the Common Era seemed to have people like that.
Then Bernadette changed the subject. "What do you think the situation at sea will be like in the future?"
"The various countries are thinking too naively." Odys looked at the boundless sea. "They think that with ironclads, they can bring an end to this chaotic age of the seas.
"But they have overlooked an important issue: this world's power system is built upon Beyonders.
"No matter how formidable their ironclads are, without a Demi-God aboard, they pose no threat whatsoever to the Four Kings. Even the Seven Generals would likely have little difficulty attacking an ironclad.
"So, I believe the current situation will continue for a long time to come."
Bernadette nodded. That was more or less the same as her own view.
Odys continued, "However, the pirates at the bottom will definitely be affected.
"Ironclads cannot attack the Four Kings and Seven Generals, but dealing with ordinary pirates will be relatively easy.
"Then those ordinary pirates will certainly seek the protection of stronger pirate crews. This will produce more Great Pirates in these waters, and the strength of the Four Kings and Seven Generals will also increase."
