Once his ship was finished, he would need more than twenty Beyonder Marionettes as crew members, with another dozen or so Puppets kept in reserve. He also needed extra parts for future repairs.
The reason Odys had suddenly become so lavish was that his financial situation had been fairly good lately. Even if producing forty Beyonder Marionettes cost around 4,000 pounds in total, he could afford it.
With the issue of funding the Beyonder Marionettes resolved, those were basically all the major expenses for going to sea.
