Judging by the creature's attacks, it was clearly an ingredient for the Black Knight potion. Since that was an Adjacent Pathway to Reader, Edwina naturally wanted to secure it.
Odys thought for a moment before saying, "Then I'll take the spider's corpse. I also want a Magical Item from the Spectator Pathway. It must have at least the abilities of Hypnosis and dream traversal, without side effects that are too severe.
"And you'll owe me a favor. If I ask for your help in the future, you can't turn me down."
Dream traversal was an ability available only at Sequence 5 of the Spectator Pathway. In other words, Odys was asking for a Sequence 5 Magical Item.
The only gap in Odys's arsenal was a Magical Item for controlling opponents. The Hand of Judgment did have Imprisonment, but that was a hard restraint that lasted only a short time and had limited uses.
With a Magical Item that could perform Hypnosis, Odys believed he would be a Pirate High Admiral once he advanced to Sequence 5.
He was already considering his title.
He had made this request of Vice Admiral Iceberg because the Spectator and Reader Pathways were also Adjacent Pathways. The Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom would probably have such a Magical Item.
Odys also thought his asking price was fair. If he had to put a price on a Sequence 4 potion, he would estimate roughly thirty thousand pounds each for the formula and its two main ingredients.
Of course, that was a valuation based on utility. Factor in scarcity, and the price would be at least twice as high...
