Odys used the Arbitration Scroll to grievously wound the enemy's second Sequence 5. He seized the opportunity and summoned Star Sand again.
The Star Sand rose and arranged itself into Gal Runes. They circled Odys's palm, lengthening his nails and etching them with Occult Symbols that gave off red mist.
This was a Vampire's ability to strengthen the hand. Odys thrust his fingers into the Dreamwalker's vulnerable eye and stirred them through his brain.
He pulled his hand free, and the lengthened nails turned back into Star Sand.
As the nails vanished, the enemy's blood and brain matter fell to the ground.
Odys glanced at the fleeing Scroll Professor and tossed an Explosion Scroll after him.
Boom!
The scroll exploded, toppling three trees and leaving the less durable Scroll Professor badly wounded.
Not every Scroll Professor was as powerful as Odys.
After dealing with his own opponents, Odys helped Edwina finish off the Sequence 5 fighting her. Then they split up to support their crews and soon killed every remaining enemy.
The frantic battle ended just like that. Looking at the bodies on the ground, the others could hardly believe it.
They had not known the enemies' exact Sequences, but they had all felt how powerful they were.
They had expected a brutal fight, the kind that would cost lives. Instead, only two crew members had been wounded.
Soon, everyone noticed a problem: the dead enemies had left behind no Beyonder Characteristics.
Odys summoned Star Sand and pulverized one corpse. All that remained was a tiny pile of fine dust, without a trace of a Beyonder Characteristic.
Edwina asked, "Could this be an illusion?"
"No." Odys sounded fairly certain. "We've already drunk the potion."
