Abner glanced at the rapier the Messenger had placed on the table and frowned. All sorts of guesses immediately sprang to mind.

However, when he saw that no letter from Jane had arrived with the rapier, he had a sudden thought. He took out the box he had temporarily sealed the previous night and removed the "mirror" used for the "livestream."
