After finalizing the deal for the Thousand Arts Phantom Crystal, Abner turned his gaze to Mr. Fool at the head of the table. He had not forgotten the task Mr. Fool had given him last week or the request he had made in return, so he spoke up:
"Mr. Fool, I'll need a few more days to complete my investigation into Baron Ramde... May I ask whether your blessed is satisfied with the information I provided earlier?"
Miss Emma had agreed to search the Royal Library for relevant records, but she needed to fit the visit into her usual routine. Otherwise, she might arouse suspicion, especially since MI9 had investigated her before.
The Tower works fast. No wonder the Hero Detective has such a reputation! But he's bringing this up now to ask whether my blessed will accept the commission to investigate the Fallen Morning Star, isn't he?
Klein sighed inwardly. He had already prepared an answer to The Tower's question, so he gave a soft chuckle and replied in an even tone:
"My blessed is quite satisfied with it and has told me he is willing to investigate the origins of the Fallen Morning Star... Given certain peculiarities of his, however, you'll need to offer him some compensation."
Klein took care not to let words like "Gold Pounds" or "money" come out of the Fool's mouth. They would ruin the image he was trying to maintain. He used "compensation" instead and deliberately emphasized his blessed's peculiarities, hoping to draw the Tarot Club members' attention there and away from the fact that he was short of money.
And what makes him peculiar? The blessed and the God are the same person, and both are poor and weak... That's peculiar enough, isn't it?
While grumbling to himself, Klein studied the Tarot
