A Conversation with Emma

Amon? Miss Emma, you're a Beyonder of the Marauder Pathway, and you're interested in Amon? Have you decided you want to become a part of him?

After grumbling to himself, Abner did not worry too much. Before entering the library, he had checked the area several times with his Pure White Eye and confirmed that Miss Emma was the only living person nearby. Besides, Amon was not yet bold enough to send an avatar into Backlund at this point.

Unless Amon stole my memory of finding something wrong during those checks, there's no need to be paranoid. But given the level of the Pure White Eye, his avatar shouldn't be capable of that... No need to borrow trouble.

As these thoughts raced through his mind, Abner gave Miss Emma a long look. She probably was not a member of the Fate Hermit Society. Most likely, she had obtained a Marauder Sequence Potion by chance; otherwise, someone would have warned her about certain taboos.

"What?" Abner's stare made Miss Emma uneasy. Her long, straight brows drew together as she asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Emma, I don't know why you brought up the name 'Amon,' but whatever the reason, you'd better not look into it any further. Even in the Fourth Epoch, when powerful High Sequence Beyonders were plentiful, that family's name was taboo," Abner warned her gravely.

"Is it really that serious?" Emma was startled. Seeing how grave Abner looked, she went on, somewhat dejectedly, "Of the five great families of the Tudor Dynasty, the Amon Family is the most mysterious. It left behind the fewest historical records, as though some power distorted and concealed them... I thought this might let me uncover some of the family's secrets and completely digest my Mystery Pryer Potion..."

Something
