Sequence 6: Polymath

In the study of the garden villa, Abner watched Mr. Azik step out of a scene that looked as though paint had been splashed across it. He went to meet him with a smile. "Is the seal complete?"

"It is. For at least a year, that baron will stay down in the castle ruins and study his books like a good boy." Mr. Azik's expression was rather odd as he answered.

Abner was at a loss for words. For a moment, he even thought the baron was better suited to being a Reader than he was... He wondered whether Baron Kangwa had always been like that, or whether it was a personality the Dream Weaver had created...

Also, of the spirits that could split off from the Trinity Templar, one was young and one was old. The one who loved studying was probably the young one... Young people had more drive to learn and improve themselves, and were more likely to hold on to passionate love...

While Abner's thoughts wandered, Mr. Azik had already settled Silica on the back of his hand and begun telling her what had happened that day.

Silica tilted her little head and gazed affectionately at Mr. Azik, listening with rapt attention.

Once the man and bird had finished their warm exchange, Mr. Azik turned to Abner and gave a slight nod. "I haven't eliminated the threat for you completely, but you should be safe for the time being...

"So I plan to go to Feynapotter with Silica and meet Viscount Karen. I want to thank him in person for looking after her all these centuries."
