The Polymath's Abilities

From the knowledge imparted by the Polymath potion, Abner knew what to look for. After a few simple tests, he had a rough grasp of the Beyonder Abilities his Pathway gained at Sequence 6:

First, the core ability of Analysis had undergone a fundamental improvement.

At the Keeper of Knowledge stage, Analysis had mostly meant working from existing knowledge and information. It did have some Beyonder aspects, such as analyzing a Beyonder's aura to obtain information, but on the whole, it leaned toward inference, classification, and deduction—forms of reasoning ordinary people also possessed. Of course, unless they were exceptionally gifted, ordinary people could not compare with a Keeper of Knowledge in those respects.

Still, because the Pure White Eye's Analysis was so powerful, Abner had rarely used his own.

At the Polymath stage, given enough prior knowledge, Analysis could uncover the principles behind an opponent's Beyonder Ability. This was also one of the prerequisites for Learning and Imitation.

The improved Analysis could also help its user quickly identify the Beyonder conditions around him and discern an opponent's strengths and weaknesses.

Abner had often used both functions while the Pure White Eye was active. Detecting spell traps and analyzing a Sealed Artifact's functions and negative effects were, strictly speaking, applications of those abilities.

As for analyzing the principles of Beyonder Abilities, Abner had used that feature of the Pure White Eye plenty of times to pick up skills from friends and enemies alike.

All in all, the Polymath's Analysis was still eclipsed by the Pure White Eye's own Analysis. It had done little to improve his strength.

Second, the changes the Polymath potion made to Abner's heart had brought about a considerable difference.
