Light and Dark

After reading the telegram, Abner did not give it much thought. He prepared to head straight to Harvest Church.

Bishop Utravsky had helped him so many times. Now that the bishop needed him, Abner could hardly refuse, so long as it was within his power to help.

But just as he stepped out to hail a carriage, Gray Fog suddenly appeared before his eyes... and he received word that tomorrow's Tarot Club gathering had been canceled.

The Tarot Club gathering is canceled... Does that mean Mr. Fool is going to die once today? Has that day come so soon?

Klein's comfortable life was about to end.

Abner sighed. He did not know whether the information he had previously given Klein had helped. Even if it had put Klein on guard, though, it probably would not change much. The power of "0-08" was terrifying, far beyond what Klein could contend with at this stage.

He had considered telling Klein outright that Tingen was under "0-08's" arrangements. But that would only drive Ince Zangwill into a corner and prompt him to act early, sending events entirely out of control.

Captain Dunn would still die. Worse, if something happened to Klein that prevented him from coming back to life, the consequences would be disastrous.

As thoughts raced through his mind, another question struck Abner. Bishop Utravsky had summoned him on this particular day... Could it have something to do with "the story of Tingen"?

Tingen City, early morning.

Klein had been on watch at Chanis Gate the previous night, so he had not been able to check the successive prayers from Miss Justice and the others. Only after leaving the company in the morning and boarding a carriage did he have time to ascend to Gray Fog Palace and hear their messages.
