Cons did not go into too much detail with Audrey, an "outsider." He did not mention that Conspirer belonged to the Hunter Pathway.

Audrey already knew that, however. She let the subject pass and asked with feigned curiosity, "Is Mr. Sarr here today? Which one is he? Could you introduce me? Heh, if Father agrees, I'd like to make friends with his granddaughter too."

"Mr. Sarr was invited by the Earl as well. He's over by the dining room. I've dealt with him before, so I can introduce you." Cons hesitated, then added, "But I'd advise you to think carefully before befriending his granddaughter."

"Why?" Audrey stopped and asked, puzzled.

"Mr. Sarr's granddaughter is named Fanny. She grew up in Intis and only came to Backlund in the past year or two... Intis girls aren't as reserved as Loen girls. According to my sources, she once spent the night at the Hero Detective's home with several other girls..." Cons lowered his voice.

Several other girls... Was the Hero Detective's private life that messy? I remember Emma and Miss Macht fighting over him at Duke Negan's ball... Right, Emma is Viscount Horatio's youngest daughter. Did she meet Detective Braine through Fanny? Was she one of the girls there that night?

Audrey indulged in a little silent gossip without letting it show.
