"Is this a recreation of Backlund during a certain period in history?"
After scanning the newspaper's front-page headline, Abner found some of his suspicions confirmed. He lowered his gaze and read on.
The newspaper's appearance was too convenient. Judging by the "experience" Mr. Gaston had described, it was probably an important prop for the task.

"Task One: Search Backlund for clues to the ruin's location, enter it, and uncover the mystery behind Baron Kholger's change in personality.
"Task Two: Visit the ruin and uncover the secret hidden in its murals.
"Complete either task to clear the stage. Once cleared, you may leave this scene at any time.
"Complete both tasks to receive an additional reward after clearing the stage."
Abner set down the newspaper and frowned, thinking:

I remember several pages of Roselle's Diary that Xio brought back from MI9 described his exploration of this ruin. I think he found the information in a library...
*Wait... I've earned enough points to notice that every Labyrinth scene seems
