Jane and Edwina also turned their eyes to the card shining with brilliant light. Above and to the left of Roselle's image, where he blew a horn, a line of words formed from dazzling starlight:
"Sequence 0: Justiciar"
"Justiciar... Sequence 0... So this is Emperor Roselle's Card of Blasphemy. So that's what 'blasphemy' means!" Edwina murmured, her eyes bright.
Jane was less surprised. After all, she had once found a Death Card in her ancestor's tomb. Though Roselle looked different on that card, it was essentially the same thing.
After a moment's thought, she decided not to touch it herself. Instead, she used the lady's glove marked with a vertical eye to control the Wraith Steve and have him pick it up. Only after confirming there was nothing wrong did she bring it close.
Having handled a Card of Blasphemy before, Jane pressed lightly on Roselle's image. The card took on depth, becoming like a miniature book.
Its pages turned without wind, revealing text in Ancient Feysac:
"Sequence 9: Arbiter"
"Possesses a compelling charm, sufficient authority, and excellent combat ability for handling unexpected situations..."
"Potion formula..."
Jane did not read closely. She touched the page, and the book flipped onward:
"Sequence 8: Sheriff"
"Sequence 7: Interrogator"
"Sequence 6: Judge"
"Sequence 5: Disciplinary Paladin"
"Attacks against enemies who violate rules set by the Disciplinary Paladin are strengthened by an unknown force and are guaranteed to hit..."
"Potion formula:
"Main ingredients: the stinger of an Adal Queen Bee, the forehead crystal of a Mist Tiger.
"Supplementary ingredients: ...
"Ritual: Consume the potion in the nest of a Berot Mountain Ape."
"Sequence 4: Imperative Mage"
"Sequence 3: Chaos Hunter"
"Sequence 2: Balancer"
"Sequence 1: Hand of Order"
"Sequence 0: Justiciar"
"Potion formula: Three Hand of Order
