March 4, Friday.
In the blink of an eye, more than three weeks had passed.
Out on the storm-tossed sea, the Blue Avenger was like a leaf blown into the air by a gale, now tossed upward, now dropping back down. Yet it maintained an astonishing balance, showing no sign of capsizing.
In the captain's cabin, Alger Wilson floated beside the window, watching waves rise like mountains outside. Strong winds silently swirled around him.
After some time, he descended and planted his feet on the carpet.
Wind-blessed really is a Sequence I can act out just by going by its name. The only problem is that I have to lose my temper now and then to match the nature of a gale...
That's hardly a problem. I even created a hotheaded pirate hunter persona through Virtuality and worked with Gehrman to wipe out several small and midsize pirate crews...
Unfortunately, I still haven't scraped together 7,000 pounds... At least Miss Magician is willing to hold on to the materials for me. Alger reflected on this without a trace of joy.
Ordinarily, completing Church missions, accumulating merit, and exchanging it for the materials he needed would have been the most effective approach. But as a bishop of the Church of Storms, Alger could not take that route. He had secrets to protect and had to conceal his true strength in exchange for freedom of movement and less scrutiny. Only then, once he was sufficiently prepared, could he travel to a certain place and accomplish the goal he had pursued for so long.
Still, Wind-blessed is easy to act out, but Ocean Songster is supposedly much harder... Would I have to sing regularly? Thinking of his own "talent" for singing, Alger could not help turning toward the deck.
