The Dreepy shrieked as they tore through the smoke like fighter jets screaming through the clouds.
Where the smoke cleared, the enormous Whiscash, a beam of destruction gathering in its mouth, flicked its whiskers. The instant its gaze locked onto the two Dreepy, it unleashed a terrifying column of black and deep-purple energy!
Boom—!!
The air shuddered visibly, as though the beam sweeping slowly across the arena had shaken the entire building.
But—
It missed the Dreepy.
The two circled the beam's outer edge, closing in on Whiscash like darting dragons. They were agile enough to put their past selves, from just a few weeks ago, to shame.
"Whuh!?"
Whiscash gaped in shock and instinctively tried to dive underwater.
But the Dreepy were too fast. Before Whiscash could react, all it could do was watch them close in and slam into its round, vacant eyes, as if time itself had slowed!
Bang! Bang!
The blasts rang out, and sparks burst forth!
Two tiny figures spun out of the smoke, their excitement plain to see.
They used the shockwaves from their attacks to speed their retreat, avoiding a repeat of last time, when they had pulled back too slowly and left themselves open to a counterattack.
Ever since they had recovered from their injuries, the Dreepy Siblings had practiced dodging and retreating almost every day.
They might only serve as the living ammunition for Dragon Darts, but their battle with Walrein had taught them that even living ammunition needed some strength of its own.
"Ruu!"
Dragapult glided forward, and the two Dreepy quickly returned to their launch ports.
All three pairs of eyes fixed on the roiling smoke below, watching until it dispersed...
