Major General Weideke walked out of the prison and tightened the collar of his uniform, his expression grave. Watching the traffic and crowds stream along the street, he wondered how much longer Stinnals City would remain prosperous. Perhaps tomorrow, perhaps next month... an unimaginable disaster might strike here, just as it had in another of Lorenzo Kingdom's Void Worlds.
The aide at Major General Weideke's side noticed something was wrong and asked quietly, "Sir, do you have any orders for me?"
Captain Qierbama had served at the major general's side for years, and the two had long since developed an understanding. Seeing his expression, Qierbama immediately asked in a low voice, "Sir, do you need me to..."
Captain Qierbama knew what the major general disliked. Clearly, those people in the prison were an eyesore. He did not know the full story; he was merely trying to read his superior's wishes and please him. He had done similar things before, but this time he had kicked the horse's leg. Major General Weideke glared at him. "Stop letting your mind run to useless nonsense. No one here is to be touched. If you're looking to die, don't drag me down with you."
Captain Qierbama was a clever man. He immediately understood that someone far higher up was involved. He lowered his head, shut his mouth, and said no more. Yet as he looked down, a strange glint flashed in his eyes.
That night, inside Phil Bar on Lanluke Street in Stinnals City.
Though it was already past eight, traffic and crowds still filled the bustling street. Gas streetlamps and the enchanted neon signs of roadside shops lit the entire street in a blaze of light.
Phil Bar was a little-known establishment, but its location on busy Lanluke Street brought it plenty of
