Sonic and Hiddink were secretly shocked. The thing in that box was not something a human could touch. It was the eye of a true Void Yin Spirit, filled with mysterious Void Spirit Energy. Even a Legendary Rank Transcendent could not resist its corrosion of the soul. Perhaps only someone of Calamity Rank could withstand it.
Yet Mrs. Cassel showed no sign of being corroded by Void Spirit Energy. Instead, she seemed to revel in its embrace.
By now, Sonic and Hiddink understood. They exclaimed in unison, "You're a follower of the Void Yin Spirit!"
Mrs. Cassel looked away, her face expressionless. "Is that a problem? I am a follower of the Void Yin Spirit. I never hid it from the start. You simply never asked."
Sonic frowned. He was tired of this woman's sophistry, but they had come too far to turn on each other now. He collected himself and said calmly, "I don't care who you are. I only care about our plan. Even if you were an Abyssal Demon, we could work together as long as there was something to gain."
Mrs. Cassel smiled. "As expected of High Priest Sonic, the legendary godslayer who dared to assassinate the God of Nature."
Sonic rolled his eyes. "Godslayer, my ass. Do you believe that?"
"Whether I believe it doesn't matter," Mrs. Cassel said. "The name 'godslayer' is out there now. Even if I don't believe it, plenty of people will be happy to. You'll have no shortage of trouble ahead."
Sonic's face darkened at her obvious delight in his predicament, and he said no more.
"Godslayer" might sound impressive, but it was really a poisoned gift. Without the strength to back it up, bearing that title would make him a thorn in many people's sides.
