"What are the benefits of passing the trial?"

Long Ye suddenly spoke up.

His abrupt shout startled the others. Everyone had been silent as a cicada, tense and fearful, yet someone actually dared to ask a question.

The girl turned her gaze toward him. "Since you came here to undergo training, do I really need to explain what the benefits are?"

"Of course I know that passing the trial means being taught the Snake Transformation Technique, perhaps even Ryūchi Cave's Senjutsu. But none of that appeals much to me. I want to know whether there are any other benefits."

Long Ye looked completely unconcerned, leaving the others beside him unsettled.

"On Ryūchi Cave's territory, he actually dared to say he wasn't interested in Ryūchi Cave's Senjutsu. Such arrogant words... he must be tired of living..."

To their surprise, the eerie girl did not get angry. Instead, she smiled.

"Outsider, you certainly have a big mouth. You claim not to be interested in Ryūchi Cave's Senjutsu. In all of history, you are the first person daring enough to utter such madness."

Long Ye looked indifferent.

"What's so strange about that? If I'm not interested, am I supposed to pretend that I am?"

"Enough nonsense. Tell me, are there any other benefits? If they can move me, I wouldn't be opposed to taking part in your so-called trial..."
