Ch. 162Menial Disciple

Lu Junyi confirmed Gu Sheng’s token was genuine but assigned him the lowest status of menial disciple in the Saint Pill Sect. At the Fire Bamboo Forest, Gu Sheng learned how difficult it was to earn advancement points and paid Liu Yiming to handle his labor so he could pursue missions instead.

  • Lu Junyi gave Liu Yuanhu a bottle of Bone Strengthening Pills to compensate for the soldiers injured by Little Cai, then returned to Cloud Saint Peak and told Gu Sheng he would enter the sect as a menial disciple.
  • Lu Junyi explained that Gu Sheng needed one hundred contribution points to become an outer disciple and ordered Chen Ke to take him to the menial disciples’ quarters.
  • Chen Ke led Gu Sheng to the Fire Bamboo Forest, where Liu Yiming explained the disciples’ daily work quotas and the dangers of trying to earn points through Merit Hall missions.
  • Gu Sheng offered Liu Yiming one thousand taels a month to complete his work quota and gave him another two hundred taels to repair his dilapidated hut.

Ch. 163Chiyun Mountain Range

Gu Sheng accepted a high-reward mission to hunt a Hallucinogenic Porcupine in the Chiyun Mountain Range. After his crossbow shot failed to stop the beast, he assembled his Thirstblood Great Axe and prepared to fight it at close range.

  • Gu Sheng went to War God Peak's Merit Hall and chose a fifteen-point mission to hunt a Hallucinogenic Porcupine.
  • Gu Sheng registered the mission, left the sect through its fortified wall, and traveled into the Chiyun Mountain Range alone.
  • Gu Sheng found the Hallucinogenic Porcupine basking beside a pond and shot at its exposed belly with his Stone Shattering Crossbow.
  • The Hallucinogenic Porcupine deflected the arrow with its spikes, charged Gu Sheng, and shattered the wooden case on his back, sending him flying.
  • Gu Sheng set aside his crossbow, assembled the Thirstblood Great Axe, and faced the Hallucinogenic Porcupine for close combat.

Ch. 164The Troublesome Hallucinogenic Porcupine

Gu Sheng fought and killed the poisonous Hallucinogenic Porcupine, then harvested its spikes for his sect mission and a possible new weapon. While roasting its meat by a pond, he discovered plants that looked like Houttuynia cordata.

  • Gu Sheng opened the fight by striking the Hallucinogenic Porcupine with the Thirstblood Great Axe, but its poisonous spikes and rainbow gas left him dizzy and injured.
  • Gu Sheng used the Snake Breathing Technique to evade the Porcupine’s crushing attack, covered his mouth and nose with a wet cloth, and countered with the three forms of Wrathblood.
  • Gu Sheng wounded the fleeing Porcupine with the Stone Shattering Crossbow and finished it off with the Thirstblood Great Axe.
  • Gu Sheng collected 432 spikes, planned to use some for his mission and forge the rest into arrows, then packed the beast’s head and his disassembled axe into a wooden box.
  • Gu Sheng made a fire and began roasting pork belly beside the pond, where he noticed plants resembling Houttuynia cordata.

Ch. 165An Encounter with Mo Buwen of the Thousand Poisons Sect

Gu Sheng intervened when the Thousand Poisons Sect attacked the wounded Mo Buwen over Ink Treasure Grass, killing Yun Feihe with his Stone Shattering Crossbow. After treating Mo Buwen, Gu Sheng faced the three surviving enemies and began firing as they charged.

  • Gu Sheng hid near the pond after hearing a fight, then saw the wounded Mo Buwen pursued by four Thousand Poisons Sect disciples led by Yun Feihe.
  • Yun Feihe poisoned Mo Buwen and tried to kill him, so Gu Sheng shot Yun Feihe through the heart with his Stone Shattering Crossbow.
  • Gu Sheng emerged, treated Mo Buwen's wounds, and kept the remaining disciples at bay while Mo Buwen urged him to flee.
  • After Yun Feihe died, the three survivors attacked Gu Sheng, who hurled Mo Buwen to safety near the pond.
  • Gu Sheng turned his Stone Shattering Crossbow toward the charging Thousand Poisons Sect disciples and fired.

Ch. 166Full Firepower, Complete Victory

Gu Sheng fought off the Thousand Poisons Sect disciples near the pond, revealing his Copper Bone Realm strength and turning the battle with the Blood Revitalizing Technique and Wrathblood Three Forms. He killed one attacker, while Senior Brother Zhou escaped into the forest and Gu Sheng returned to Mo Buwen rather than pursue him far.

  • The Thousand Poisons Sect disciples attacked Gu Sheng with poisoned weapons, but he assembled the Thirstblood Great Axe and revealed that he was at the Copper Bone Realm.
  • Gu Sheng deflected the disciples’ hidden attacks, but poison blinded one man and the other two pressured him until his strength began to fade.
  • Gu Sheng released his stored blood and qi with the Blood Revitalizing Technique and used Wrathblood Three Forms to kill the disciple wielding the extended manure fork.
  • Senior Brother Zhou fled after Gu Sheng unleashed the third form, and Gu Sheng fired several arrows after him without hitting.
  • Gu Sheng returned to Mo Buwen, leaving the blinded disciple behind as he called fearfully for Senior Brother Zhou.

Ch. 167I Really Am a Menial Disciple!

Gu Sheng returned from the Chiyun Mountain Range after defeating the Thousand Poisons Sect attackers, rescued Mo Buwen, and gave him the valuable Ink Treasure Grass. At the Merit Hall, Gu Sheng insisted he was a Copper Bone Realm menial disciple, leaving Chen Ke shocked when he confirmed Gu Sheng’s cultivation.

  • The blinded Thousand Poisons Sect disciple died after falling onto one of his sect’s poisoned daggers, and Gu Sheng searched the corpses and packed away the battle spoils.
  • Gu Sheng returned the Ink Treasure Grass to Mo Buwen, carried him toward the Saint Pill Sect, and claimed his recent breakthrough and hunting experience explained his strength.
  • Gu Sheng brought Mo Buwen to his residence, where Lin Miaomiao learned that An Xin had been killed and vowed to report the Thousand Poisons Sect’s attack.
  • Gu Sheng went to the Merit Hall to submit his mission, but the attendant questioned his lack of sect robes and could not find his records.
  • Chen Ke arrived and confirmed Gu Sheng had been registered as a menial disciple, then sensed his Copper Bone Realm cultivation and reacted in disbelief.

Ch. 168War God Peak Master, Wen Mingyan

After Qin Xue told Wen Mingyan that seventeen-year-old Gu Sheng had reached the Copper Bone Realm despite being assigned as a menial disciple, Wen Mingyan went to confront First Elder Lu Junyi. He accidentally disrupted Lu Junyi's pill refining, destroying an expensive batch, and was left facing his furious uncle.

  • Qin Xue gave Gu Sheng contribution-point Jade Slices and learned from Chen Ke that the First Elder had assigned the seventeen-year-old Copper Bone Realm cultivator to be a menial disciple.
  • Qin Xue told Wen Mingyan about Gu Sheng's talent and the Saint Pill Sect's declining position in the competition for Chiyun Secret Domain resources.
  • Wen Mingyan went to Lu Junyi's pavilion to ask why Gu Sheng had been made a menial disciple, but Bai Xueyuzi warned him that Lu Junyi was refining pills behind sealed restrictions.
  • Wen Mingyan struck the pavilion's restrictions, shaking the pill cauldron and causing Lu Junyi's batch of Marrow Building Pills to explode.
  • Lu Junyi emerged furious and ordered Wen Mingyan inside to explain the damage.

Ch. 169Wen Mingyan's Confusion

Wen Mingyan confronted Lu Junyi over Gu Sheng’s assignment to the Fire Bamboo Forest, but Lu Junyi insisted that no one interfere with the young disciple’s progress. Back in the Fire Bamboo Forest, Gu Sheng reviewed his recent battle and began cultivating the Shadow Concealment Art.

  • Lu Junyi scolded Wen Mingyan for breaking into his alchemy room, and Wen Mingyan explained that he wanted Gu Sheng to join War God Peak after hearing the seventeen-year-old had reached the Copper Bone Realm.
  • Lu Junyi ordered Wen Mingyan not to give Gu Sheng special treatment or interfere with his arrangements, then sent him away to keep watch over the sect.
  • Wen Mingyan returned to War God Peak and hid his swords, fearing Lu Junyi would take them to cover the cost of the exploded pill cauldron.
  • Liu Yiming showed Gu Sheng the repaired room, a new bed, and a meal he had bought in Saint Pill City.
  • Gu Sheng examined the Hallucinogenic Wild Boar’s poisonous spikes, reviewed his battle against four opponents, and assessed his strengths and limits.
  • Gu Sheng decided to focus on cultivating the Golden Body Art and Shadow Concealment Art, then began studying how to use Mirror Force to bend light.

Ch. 170Fun-Lover, Shi Lezhi

Gu Sheng confronted menial supervisor Shi Lezhi after Shi extorted the disciples and beat Liu Yiming for helping with Gu Sheng’s work. Gu Sheng defeated Shi, and Lin Miaomiao revealed that Gu Sheng had been personally brought into the sect by the First Elder, leaving Shi too frightened to retaliate.

  • Shi Lezhi extorted silver from the menial disciples during his inspection and beat Liu Yiming for defending Gu Sheng.
  • Liu Yiming told Gu Sheng why Shi wanted to see him, and Gu Sheng went with Liu to the Fire Bamboo Forest.
  • Gu Sheng refused to pay Shi, gave Liu money for medical expenses, and kicked Shi when he attacked.
  • Shi threatened Gu Sheng, but Gu Sheng refused to flee and insisted their fight was permitted by sect rules.
  • Lin Miaomiao arrived and told Shi that Gu Sheng was a Copper Bone Realm cultivator personally arranged into the sect by the First Elder, so Shi stopped demanding that she capture him.

Ch. 171Saint Pill City

After Shi Lezhi hired a servant disciple to spy on Gu Sheng and Liu Yiming, Lin Miaomiao told Gu Sheng about a kill order against the Thousand Poisons Sect and recruited him for a planned expedition. Gu Sheng traveled to Saint Pill City to prepare specialized arrows and reached a forging room at Mu's Merchant Guild.

  • Shi Lezhi paid a servant disciple to monitor Gu Sheng and Liu Yiming, then left to seek pills for his injuries.
  • Lin Miaomiao told Gu Sheng that Peak Master Wen had issued a kill order against the Thousand Poisons Sect, with sect contribution points awarded for kills.
  • Lin Miaomiao invited Gu Sheng to join a team entering the Chiyun Mountain Range in three days, and Gu Sheng agreed.
  • Gu Sheng packed the Hallucinogenic Wild Boar spikes and went to Saint Pill City to have specialized arrows made.
  • After learning that Mu's Merchant Guild offered custom forging, Gu Sheng asked attendant Qingqing to use a forging room and followed her inside.

Ch. 172Forging Special Arrows

Gu Sheng forged 132 special arrows from hundred-forged refined iron and Hallucinogenic Wild Boar spines, then tested their power and range with the Stone Shattering Crossbow. After discovering that the weapon’s loud report would hinder ambushes, he began thinking about making a silencer.

  • Gu Sheng rented a forging room at Mu's Merchant Guild and refined pig iron into hundred-forged iron using the Helian Weapon Forging Art.
  • He forged 132 arrows with refined-iron shafts and Hallucinogenic Wild Boar spine arrowheads, increasing his forging art’s progress by six points.
  • After Qingqing told him he had forged for eighteen hours, Gu Sheng paid the bill and returned to the Fire Bamboo Forest, where a servant disciple who had accepted Shi Lezhi's silver tried to explain why he was waiting outside in the dark.
  • The next morning, Gu Sheng tested his arrows and found that one shot pierced five trees, while the durable arrows remained undamaged and could be reused.
  • He measured the arrows’ maximum range at 500 meters and their effective range at 300 meters, then considered a silencer to conceal the Stone Shattering Crossbow’s loud report.

Ch. 173The Stone Shattering Crossbow's Silencer

Gu Sheng tested a silencer he had made for the Stone Shattering Crossbow, reducing its noise but discovering that its materials burned and failed. Elder Huang recognized the design’s potential and began crafting an improved version with Gu Sheng in his forging room.

  • Gu Sheng made a first-generation silencer from pig iron, purple radish vine, and beast fur at Mu's Merchant Guild.
  • Gu Sheng tested the modified Stone Shattering Crossbow and found it was quieter, but the beast fur caught fire and the baffles were ruined.
  • Elder Huang examined the silencer, praised its design, and asked Gu Sheng to explain his ideas and process.
  • Elder Huang took Gu Sheng to his forging room and began making a refined silencer using Deep Sea Sinking Silver and other materials.

Ch. 174Scoring a New Crossbow for Free

Gu Sheng and Elder Huang tested a second-generation silencer that made crossbows nearly silent, then Elder Huang gifted Gu Sheng a powerful new crossbow. As Gu Sheng headed back to the Saint Pill Sect, he recognized Mu Qinghe passing by.

  • Elder Huang installed Cotton Ironwood baffles and seaweed stuffing in the second-generation silencer, then tested it by firing the Stone Shattering Crossbow into a granite wall.
  • Gu Sheng heard the silenced shot and saw the arrow rebound, while Elder Huang found the baffles intact and the seaweed partly charred.
  • Elder Huang gave Gu Sheng the silencer for free, then forged him a stronger crossbow and demonstrated that it drove an arrow deep into the granite wall.
  • Elder Huang gifted Gu Sheng the new crossbow, and Gu Sheng took spare seaweed before leaving Mu's Merchant Guild with Qingqing.
  • Gu Sheng named the new weapon the Star Shatterer Crossbow and, on his way toward the Saint Pill Sect, spotted Mu Qinghe.

Ch. 175Black Market in the City

Gu Sheng confronted Mu Qinghe over the stolen Thunderwood and Roaring Thunder Fruit, then followed him to uncover the brothers’ plan to kill him and frame the Thousand Poisons Sect. He tracked Mu Qinghe into an underground black market and was left examining a martial arts manual offered for sale.

  • Gu Sheng demanded five hundred thousand taels from Mu Qinghe in exchange for keeping the brothers’ theft secret, and Mu Qinghe agreed to meet him at midnight.
  • Gu Sheng followed Mu Qinghe to Bright Moon Pavilion and learned that Mu Qinghe, Mu Qingyuan, and Mu Qingwen planned to kill him and blame the Thousand Poisons Sect.
  • Mu Qinghe disguised himself and went to a gambling house, where Gu Sheng followed him into its underground black market.
  • Gu Sheng found Mu Qinghe buying supplies, then stopped at a stall where the owner offered him an incomplete Star Piercing Sword Art for fifty thousand taels.

Ch. 176A Lone Blade at the Meeting, Instant Kill

Gu Sheng followed Mu Qinghe and his accomplices to a barren slope, where they planned to silence him after arranging to blame someone else for their scheme. He killed Mu Qinghe and Mu Qingyuan in quick succession, then aimed his crossbow at the fleeing Mu Qingwen.

  • Gu Sheng bought a damaged martial art manual and paid the poison-stall owner for Ten Sinew Soft Bone Powder and information about what Mu Qinghe had purchased.
  • Gu Sheng followed Mu Qinghe back to the Bright Moon Pavilion, then waited outside the city and trailed him and two companions to a barren slope.
  • Gu Sheng overheard Mu Qinghe, Mu Qingyuan, and Mu Qingwen discuss shifting blame and silencing him, then revealed himself and demanded money.
  • Mu Qinghe charged Gu Sheng, who killed him with a bolt from the Star Shatterer Crossbow.
  • Mu Qingyuan and Mu Qingwen attacked together, but Gu Sheng killed Mu Qingyuan with a punch and aimed his reloaded crossbow at Mu Qingwen as he fled.

Ch. 177Teaming Up, Entering the Mountains

Gu Sheng killed Mu Qingwen’s group, recovered the Three-pattern Iron Thunderwood and Roaring Thunder Fruits, and entrusted them to Elder Huang for safekeeping. He joined Lin Miaomiao’s team for the Chiyun Mountain Range, where the group set out toward Bone Washing Flowers near Thousand Poisons Sect territory.

  • Gu Sheng killed Mu Qingwen, looted the three bodies, and planted poisoned hidden weapons in them to shift the blame to the Thousand Poisons Sect.
  • Gu Sheng brought the Three-pattern Iron Thunderwood and Roaring Thunder Fruits to Elder Huang, who agreed to keep them safe.
  • Gu Sheng met Lin Miaomiao, Mo Buwen, Dai Sen, and Huang Miaoyin, and Dai Sen and Huang Miaoyin accepted him after learning he was seventeen and had reached the Copper Bone Realm.
  • Gu Sheng left his Thirstblood Great Axe behind, borrowed Lin Miaomiao’s saber, and set out with the group for the Chiyun Mountain Range.
  • Mo Buwen revealed that Bone Washing Flowers lay near Thousand Poisons Sect territory and were guarded by an Iron Bone King Snake, but Dai Sen and Huang Miaoyin insisted the group pursue them.

Ch. 178Iron Bone King Snake

Gu Sheng and his teammates pursued a Bone Washing Flower guarded by an Iron Bone King Snake, hoping to gain pills that could help them advance. The snake was drawn from its cave, and the group fought it while Mo Buwen tried to retrieve the flower; the battle continued with Lin Miaomiao under pressure and Gu Sheng waiting for a clear shot.

  • Dai Sen, Huang Miaoling, Lin Miaomiao, and Gu Sheng agreed to seek the Bone Washing Flower after Mo Buwen revealed its location and explained that an Iron Bone King Snake guarded it.
  • Lin Miaomiao assigned Mo Buwen to retrieve the flower while she, Dai Sen, and Huang Miaoyin engaged the snake and Gu Sheng attacked from the rear.
  • Mo Buwen lured the Iron Bone King Snake out with bloodied mountain goats, and Dai Sen and Huang Miaoyin discovered that their swords could barely damage its scales.
  • Lin Miaomiao wounded the snake and knocked it away from Mo Buwen, while Gu Sheng pierced its vital spot with a bolt from the Star Shatterer Crossbow.
  • The wounded snake went berserk and attacked Gu Sheng, but Lin Miaomiao drew its attention with Blood Shattering Slash as Dai Sen and Huang Miaoyin blocked its tail.
  • Lin Miaomiao held off the snake's bite while Gu Sheng spotted an opening when its mouth was forced open and called out that it was a perfect chance.

Ch. 179Wu Xinyu of the Thousand Poisons Sect, Hallucinogenic Mad Smoke

Gu Sheng and the War God Peak disciples killed the Iron Bone King Snake and obtained the Bone Washing Flower, but Wu Xinyu and four Thousand Poisons Sect disciples ambushed them. Gu Sheng wounded Wu Xinyu with a crossbow shot, and the chapter ended as Wu Xinyu's Hallucinogenic Mad Smoke drove Lin Miaomiao and the others to attack one another.

  • Gu Sheng used a poisoned crossbow arrow to immobilize the Iron Bone King Snake, then killed it while Lin Miaomiao and the others watched in astonishment.
  • Mo Buwen returned with the Bone Washing Flower, and the group harvested the snake before Wu Xinyu and four Thousand Poisons Sect disciples emerged from the forest.
  • Lin Miaomiao warned the group not to kill Wu Xinyu, while Gu Sheng took the Bone Washing Flower and prepared to shoot from cover.
  • Wu Xinyu's group attacked with hidden weapons and Poison Burst Fire Stars, forcing Lin Miaomiao and the others to defend themselves amid toxic smoke.
  • Gu Sheng shot through Wu Xinyu's hand as he aimed a Soul Snatching Arrow at Lin Miaomiao, but Wu Xinyu then released Hallucinogenic Mad Smoke that made Lin Miaomiao and the others attack one another.

Ch. 180Fighting Above His Level, Slaying a Silver Bone Realm Expert

Gu Sheng killed Zhang Fei and the other Thousand Poisons Sect disciples, then forced Wu Xinyu to hand over the antidote that saved Lin Miaomiao and the others. After learning Gu Sheng had killed the entire group, Lin Miaomiao urged him to take her money and flee before Wu Xinyu’s death brought consequences.

  • Gu Sheng ambushed and killed two Copper Bone Realm cultivators before confronting Zhang Fei in the forest.
  • Gu Sheng wounded Zhang Fei with an arrow, poisoned him with the Hallucinogenic Porcupine’s toxin, and killed him with the Wrathblood Third Form.
  • Gu Sheng subdued Wu Xinyu and threatened to kill him until he surrendered the antidote.
  • Gu Sheng used the antidote to cure Lin Miaomiao, Huang Miaoyin, Dai Sen, and Mo Buwen, then treated their wounds.
  • After Gu Sheng revealed that the Thousand Poisons Sect group was dead, Lin Miaomiao gave him her money and urged him to escape.

Ch. 181Wu Xinyu's Miserable Fate

Gu Sheng and Lin Miaomiao’s team captured Wu Xinyu after surviving an encounter in the Chiyun Mountain Range, then brought him back to the Saint Pill Sect. First Elder Lu Junyi agreed to summon Wu Gui to retrieve his son and let Wu Xinyu keep his mother’s crossbow while Gu Sheng kept the Soul Snatching Arrow.

  • Gu Sheng reassured Lin Miaomiao that Wu Xinyu was alive, and the group treated their injuries before escaping to a hidden cave.
  • Gu Sheng searched Wu Xinyu’s belongings and kept the Soul Snatching Arrow and small crossbow after Wu Xinyu demanded them back.
  • The team returned to the Saint Pill Sect, where Lin Miaomiao reported Wu Xinyu’s capture to Qin Xue.
  • Gu Sheng slapped Wu Xinyu for threatening Qin Xue, and Qin Xue took the group to First Elder Lu Junyi for instructions.
  • Lu Junyi ordered the sect to notify Wu Gui and identified the Soul Snatching Arrow as a Yellow Grade Low Rank treasure.
  • Lu Junyi let Wu Xinyu take back the old crossbow but did not return the Soul Snatching Arrow to him.
