At first, everyone stared at Zhang Yang. But soon, every gaze shifted to the enormous snake behind him, and panic spread across their faces.
It took Black Widow and the others a moment to react.
The instant they did, Black Widow drew her pistol, Captain America raised his shield, and Hawkeye readied his bow. They were clearly on guard against Zhang Yang's sudden arrival—and the snake behind him.
"Oh, you can't do that!" Stark snapped. He rose from his chair and crossed to Zhang Yang in a few quick strides. Straightening his suit, he turned to Captain America and the others. "Is this how you treat the man who saved your lives?"
"Saved our lives?" Hawkeye frowned and pointed at Zhang Yang, his voice edged with mockery. "You mean him? An eighteen- or nineteen-year-old kid?"
"Of course," Stark said, looking at Hawkeye.
"He's the sorcerer I went to Kamar-Taj to find."
"A sorcerer saving the country? Sounds a little fantastical." Once Nick Fury realized Stark had brought Zhang Yang here and that he was a friend rather than an enemy, he finally relaxed. He went back to leafing through his newspaper as he spoke to Stark in a skeptical tone.
Stark seemed to take offense. "Really? He's still more useful than a bunch of agents stuck in this building reading old newspapers because they've lost internet access."
When it came to trading barbs, Stark had never lost.
Sensing Nick Fury's disapproval of Zhang Yang, Stark immediately fired back.
