The book described almost nothing but how to become a god, or how to turn an ordinary person into one.
It was not as difficult to understand as some advanced spellbooks.
In fact, it was remarkably easy to read.
Anyone who knew a little magic could understand it.
Yet no one had ever learned its magic.
In the entire Mage World, throughout The Ancient One's thousand years, no one had ever learned the magic in the Miracle Spellbook.
Not because it was difficult, but because it was impossible.
After all, a sentence written in an ancient language appeared on the very first page.
"A god grants power; humans offer faith."
Its meaning was simple and easy to understand.
Put plainly:
To become a god, you needed believers. But first, you needed the power to grant them something.
The problem was that almost every mage in the Mage World borrowed their magical energy.
They had yet to pay back what they owed. How could they lend magical energy to anyone else?
That was why many had believed from the start that the spellbook was a joke the Five Creator Gods had played on humanity.
Even a mage of The Ancient One's caliber, someone who would soon follow the Eternal Emperor and become a believer, could not master this magic.
A large part of the reason was that, powerful as The Ancient One was,
almost all the magic within her was borrowed.
To put it bluntly, all her magical energy came from loans at exorbitant interest.
If that was true of The Ancient One, what chance did other mages have?
That was why no human in the entire Mage World had mastered this magic.
It was also why The Ancient One had sealed the book away.
She had not done it out
