The Celestials had not destroyed all humans.
Most of the test subjects had been eliminated.
Yet some humans had still survived and become survivors.
These humans had not been left behind because the Celestials lacked the ability to destroy them.
More precisely, the Celestials had deliberately spared them.
They seemed unwilling to believe that their experiment could fail.
Or perhaps they simply could not accept that fact.
Thus,
in their extreme fury, they left behind a small portion of humanity.
This led to what happened later.
The Celestials came to Earth for a third time to inspect the progress of human development.
By then, human civilization had almost taken shape.
Without receiving any assistance from the Celestials,
humanity had flourished remarkably and continued advancing.
What astonished the Celestials most was that,
when they came to Earth for the third time, they happened to encounter gods as well.
The gods here referred to Earth's gods.
Zeus of the Olympians.
Brahma and Shiva of India,
as well as countless chaotic deities.
The gods invented by humanity had, in fact, all existed during the early stages of human cosmic civilization.
Although, to modern humanity, they seemed more like fabrications,
because they had all fallen.
But in truth,
to the mages of Kamar-Taj, or to The Ancient One,
they were more like biographies.
They recorded that these gods had once appeared on Earth and fought desperately to protect humanity.
Of course, this included one god who had not fallen.
That god was the ruler of Asgard—Odin!
When the Celestials saw that gods had actually emerged on Earth, their first reaction was disdain. After all,
