S.H.I.E.L.D. in Action
Originally, given Rimuru's "age," she still could not independently purchase property.
But with money paving the way, all impossibilities became possible.
What was more, Rimuru had a big shot like Tony Stark backing her. Getting anything done could not have been more convenient.
Those with permanent property had steadfast hearts. Chinese people's obsession with owning a home was something foreigners could hardly imagine.
Only after having a place to settle down did Rimuru feel a little more grounded. Especially now that she had the goal of creating Weapon Girl, she felt her life was filled with meaning.
Setting up a home had never been simple. Although she had reported the purchase of the villa to Pepper long ago, Jenny had still been sent over by Pepper to help her.
But her abrupt move still caused quite a stir.
Tony Stark had even thought that he and Rimuru had argued, causing her to move out in a fit of anger. He had even specially apologized to her.
Rimuru did not know whether to laugh or cry, but she was touched nonetheless.
Honestly, the villa was a little too big, which made it feel especially lonely.
Still, Rimuru was not the type to brood over sentimentality. To be honest, she had long since gotten used to it.
What was there to fear about being alone?
As long as she had internet and her two-dimensional waifus to fawn over, she could live perfectly well even if she were thrown onto the moon and forced to eat instant noodles every day.
That was right, her survival skills were just that strong!
But first, she needed to create an artificial intelligence.
She could not yet meet Weapon Girl's hardware requirements, but she could begin preparing the software.
She had long wanted an intelligent butler like Jarvis!
With Great Sage around, Jarvis's core programming held no secrets from Rimuru.
After Rimuru activated automatic mode, Great Sage directly took control of her body.
Tap tap!
Rimuru's ten fingers flew across the keyboard, and code on the computer screen multiplied at a speed visible to the naked eye.
If ordinary people saw this, they would surely worship Rimuru as the god of computers.
Even super hackers might be so ashamed by the sight that they would want to kill themselves.
Great Sage was just that badass, and automatic mode was just that broken.
The Slime's body cells could take turns resting, so Rimuru did not feel tired either.
But after working for a while each time, Rimuru still chose to stop and rest for a bit.
Eating, watching anime, spending money in games, building Gundam models...
If she could have lived like this in her previous life, Rimuru might have laughed herself awake from her dreams.
But now...
Emmmm, Rimuru felt that everything had lost a bit of its flavor.
The Marvel Universe's tech tree was absurdly lopsided. Tony Stark had already written a weak artificial intelligence, and holographic projection technology was quite mature.
Yet smartphones had only just begun taking off, and Kidney Machine 1, which had already fallen from grace in her previous life, had only been on the market for a short while.
Most importantly, none of the games Rimuru had loved in her previous life existed.
Even if she wanted to spend money in games, there was nowhere to spend it. It depressed Rimuru to death.
Even the various anime series could only be revisited. As for following new episodes, heh.
The only consolation was that she had found even more interesting toys. The Wind God Mech and the artificial intelligence soon to be born filled her with hope for the future.
While Rimuru was still burying herself in work for the birth of artificial intelligence, S.H.I.E.L.D. was mired in misery.
Coulson and numerous agents stood in a row, each with their heads lowered, wishing they could crawl into a crack in the ground.
Not only had they failed their mission, they had even needed their boss to bail them out of the police station... How humiliating!
When they learned that the reason for their detention was "damaging the city's appearance" and "corrupting public morals," they were even more ashamed. Coulson in particular was nearly angered into internal bleeding.
It was too unfair! He did not have that kind of hobby. Captain America was the one he liked most!
It was true that he was a nice guy, but nice guys had tempers too. He had his pride!
"Tell me. What exactly happened?"
Coulson raised his head and felt that Nick Fury's face had become even darker.
But the problem was, he did not know what had happened either.
Even if he wanted to explain, he had nothing to say!
Bang!
Nick Fury slammed his palm onto the desk. "What's wrong? Have you all gone mute?"
Nick Fury was furious. As the king of agents, these few subordinates before him were practically stupid enough to make him cry!
He had sent them to investigate a little girl suspected of being an alien, yet they had somehow been instantly taken down and then brought to the police station for indecent behavior...
Back then, when he and Captain Marvel Carol had joined forces against the Skrulls and the Kree, he had held an orange cat named Gu Gu and fought from the video store to the subway, from the subway to the military base, and from the military base all the way into outer space...
Strike after strike, without even blinking, he had beaten the Kree so badly their own mothers would not recognize them.
That battle had displayed humanity's might and established S.H.I.E.L.D.'s prestige.
Who would have thought that Coulson would stumble headfirst into the hands of a blue-haired little girl? In the end, they had not even figured out whether she was an alien.
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents truly were getting worse with every generation... It seemed his Super Soldier Squad plan needed to be put on the agenda as soon as possible!
Just as Nick Fury lamented that Coulson and the others were the worst group he had ever led, Melinda hurried over with a stack of documents.
"Director, the Blood Test Report is out. According to the report, Agent Coulson's blood contains a substance similar to ether. Therefore, we can conclude that Coulson and the other agents were indeed drugged unconscious."
"According to the information provided by Coulson and the others, they did not smell any irritating odor before passing out. This should be a new type of anesthetic, colorless and odorless..."
As they listened to the report, Coulson and the other agents exchanged glances.
They really had been taken down by drugs!
What a disgrace. As S.H.I.E.L.D. agents determined to protect the world, they had been knocked out by a little girl using anesthetic.
Still, if she released anesthetic gas in an enclosed space, was she not afraid of it herself?
Melinda said, "Director, subway surveillance footage shows that after Coulson and the others passed out, five minutes elapsed before the train reached the next station. In other words, Rimuru can hold her breath for at least seven minutes!"
"From this, we can infer that Rimuru differs greatly from ordinary humans on Earth, making it highly likely that she is an alien... Of course, it is also possible that she is immune to this anesthetic..."
"According to the surveillance footage, Coulson and the other agents made no mistakes in their series of actions. However, when the number of agents reached seven, Rimuru frowned slightly. She should have noticed something. This shows that Rimuru possesses exceptionally sharp perception!"
"After sensing something unusual, Rimuru's gaze began to wander, but she was still uncertain at that point. However, when she saw Coulson, Director, look—her lips curved upward..."
"In other words, through Coulson, Rimuru confirmed the identities of all the agents..."
Hearing Melinda's analysis, Coulson was completely dumbfounded.
Especially when he saw the meaningful look in the Director's eyes, Coulson immediately felt that he was finished.
He was not a traitor!
Coulson immediately stated, "Director, I request a Truth Serum Test!"
Nick Fury waved a hand. "I believe you are not a traitor, but there is no doubt that your identity has been exposed, Coulson. Put this matter aside for now. You have worked hard this time, so get some rest!"
Coulson stood there in a daze, speechless and desolate.
Was he being put on the bench?!
No matter how hard he racked his brain, he could not understand how his identity had been exposed.
Rimuru had only suspected the other agents she saw. She probably did not possess an ability like mind-reading.
Yet the moment she saw him, she had instantly confirmed his identity. Had he really gotten old?
Coulson rubbed his increasingly receding hairline. Perhaps he really was getting old!
When middle age leaves no choice, soak goji berries in a thermos!
