Long Island Villa.
Rimuru looked at the long string of numbers in her bank account, feeling as though she were floating in heaven.
Awesome. This was absolutely awesome!
This trip had not only saved the violent loli's father, but also taken down the massive cancer that was Frank Amick.
Most importantly, she had made money—lots and lots of money.
The early bird caught the worm. Hard work really was the surest path to wealth and prosperity!
"First, I'll set myself a small goal. Next, I want to be able to afford sliced cake!"
With a goal in mind, Rimuru immediately felt that life was no longer confusing. She was brimming with motivation.
Though it was only a string of numbers on her bank card, it felt very real to Rimuru.
Take a chance, and a bicycle becomes a motorcycle. Place a bet, and a motorcycle becomes a Land Rover. As long as you're bold enough, ahem...
Being bold was useless too. Better forget that.
Who could have imagined that one outing would earn back the money for the Supercomputer and the Mecha materials?
If not for Aiya, the artificial intelligence far ahead of its time, Rimuru would have had quite a bit of trouble spending this money normally.
But after Aiya worked her magic, the money had been thoroughly laundered and turned into Rimuru's legitimate income!
That was the convenience of electronic currency. On the internet, Aiya was the absolute king.
Now that she had money, it was time to pay Tony Stark a visit. She still needed to go through him for those high-end materials and weapons.
As long as there was life, there would be no end to digging holes. Rimuru's goal was to sell the new element reactor to Tony Stark—and charge him a patent fee!
S.H.I.E.L.D.
Tri-Wing Building.
Agent Hill held a document and handed it to Nick Fury.
"Director, the Department of Defense sent us a notice not long ago, demanding that we inform the military of the Silver Armored War God's identity!"
Taking the document, Nick Fury looked surprised. "Did Rimuru do something?"
After observing her for some time, Nick Fury had gained some understanding of Rimuru's personality.
She was a fairly mild-mannered and friendly "Earthling." She should not have provoked those military people's sensitive nerves.
Maria Hill said, "At around 2:27 last night, the military detected the Silver Armored War God flying through the night sky. Afterwards, the NYPD discovered a shooting case with as many as nineteen dead..."
Agent Hill briefly explained the sequence of events to Nick Fury, including the vicious livestreamed crime incident online.
"Past two in the morning?"
Seeing the time, Nick Fury could not help but frown.
Going out to save people at that hour was not a good sign!
Your position shaped your perspective. Ordinary people might see the Silver Armored War God rescuing citizens from criminals and consider it a great deed.
But Nick Fury saw that Rimuru... was not so well-behaved. At the very least, she was not as well-behaved as she appeared!
Agent Hill said, "The military has always been extremely interested in the era-defining technology of humanoid Mechas. They have repeatedly pressured Tony Stark to open his technology to the military, but Tony Stark refused without hesitation!
After repeatedly failing to get what they wanted, quite a few hawks even declared that they would forcibly requisition it. But Tony Stark's identity is special, and his connections are extensive. Using force would never pass in Congress..."
Nick Fury rubbed the space between his brows. "So they set their sights on Rimuru, did they?"
"Yes!"
Agent Hill nodded.
That was only natural. In today's world, there were only three Mechas that had appeared before the public in total.
Mark, Iron Monger, and Wind God. Iron Monger had long since been destroyed.
The only mature Mechas that had been battle-tested were Mark and Wind God!
Mark was in Tony Stark's hands. Tony was the richest man in the world, with far too much power and influence for them to use force against him.
But there was only one Tony Stark whom even the military could do nothing about, while there was more than one mature Mecha!
"Idiots! Short-sighted fools!"
Nick Fury could not help but curse.
Did they really think Rimuru was an easy target?!
The few abilities Rimuru had already displayed were enough to shock the world.
Unknown anesthetic gas, Temperature Change Resistance, an interdimensional Stomach...
The interdimensional Stomach in particular could hold at least an entire lake's worth of fresh water. What if they pushed her too far and she simply flooded New York?
Rimuru said her Stomach could hold a lake's worth of water, but was that really its limit?
You could never have too many trump cards in hand!
Take himself, for example. Everyone thought his left eye was blind, but no one knew that his left eye held S.H.I.E.L.D.'s highest level of authorization.
Putting himself in her shoes, Nick Fury absolutely refused to believe that a single lake was the limit of her Stomach.
And that unknown anesthetic gas—who knew how much she could release at once?
Not to mention Rimuru's mind, which even Tony Stark held in the highest regard...
If Rimuru truly came from Earth 2,500 years into the future in a Parallel Universe, then just how advanced would their weapons be?
A span of 2,500 years was simply too long. Just think of the technological gap between humanity 2,500 years ago and today...
How could a civilization capable of interstellar travel possibly be understood by those short-sighted politicians?
Hearing Nick Fury curse, Agent Hill was greatly startled.
As one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s rare Level 9 agents, Hill knew some inside information about Rimuru, the Silver Armored War God.
Even aliens were something Hill knew a little about, so she had never thought Rimuru was all that formidable.
But the Director's reaction was completely beyond her expectations.
Nick Fury said, "You don't need to concern yourself with this matter anymore. I'll explain things to the military myself!"
"Yes."
"Anything else to report?"
"Director, I also have a report from the NYPD. It's very strange—you should take a look!"
As Agent Hill spoke, she presented the report.
"Strange?"
Nick Fury could not help but feel curious, but not long after opening the report, Agent Hill saw the Director's face darken even further.
"Hill, you can leave first. And pass along a message for me—have Barton come to my office!"
After Hill left, Nick Fury could not help rubbing his brow.
He did not know whether it was an illusion, but lately, being the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. had become several times harder than before!
If Rimuru had been here, he would definitely have told Baldy—yes, it wasn't your imagination. This was only the beginning. Later, you would find that being Director would only become harder and harder!
When Barton entered the Director's office, Nick Fury did not waste any words. He directly tossed the NYPD report in front of Barton.
Very quickly, Hawkeye Barton was dumbfounded. "It wasn't me, I didn't do it, it wasn't me. Director, you know me. Using a bow to hit someone is the disgrace of an archer. I, Clinton Francis Barton, would never use my bow in close combat!"
PS: I can truly feel everyone's support, and it has filled me with encouragement. Today's recommendations and bookmarks have both been pretty good, so thank you all again. With everyone's help, I even made it onto the fanfiction new release rankings. Although I'm dead last, I'm still very happy. This ranking has greatly increased Slime King's exposure. Thank you all so much. O(∩_∩)O~
