Your Friend Hulk Is About to Come Online
I'm making money, making money!
I don't even know how to spend it all.
I'll buy a Nokia with my left hand and a Motorola with my right, Switching between China Mobile, China Unicom, and PHS, changing my number every day.
After riding in a Mercedes-Benz, I'll drive a BMW; when I've got nothing to do, I'll hit the sauna and eat lobster.
I'm making money, making money!
I even hired three nannies—
One to sweep, one to cook, and one to be a wet nurse...
Rimuru hummed a little tune, radiating happiness from head to toe, like she had downed a huge bottle of cola in one go. This was double the joy.
This trip to the West Coast had truly made Rimuru rich in one fell swoop!
Not only had she successfully extorted all sorts of cutting-edge materials from Tony, she had even gathered all the materials for Feng Shen Three and Feng Shen Four.
She had also successfully sold the new-energy reactor to Tony in exchange for one billion dollars.
Adding in the Supercomputer installation fee, the 3D printer, and the particle collider, she had made at least 1.2 billion dollars in net profit from this trip.
Sure enough, kidnapping Tony Stark was the best route to getting rich!
After agreeing on a time for the competition with Tony Stark, Rimuru flew back to New York aboard Feng Shen One.
Long Island villa.
Looking at the Feng Shen One she had taken off, Rimuru could not help feeling sentimental. She had never expected that in less than half a year, this Mecha that had once stood at the forefront of science would become an outdated "antique" from the previous generation.
The pace of upgrades was even faster than that of electronic products!
"In a couple of days, I'll build a 'wardrobe' in the villa specifically for displaying the Feng Shen series of armor!"
During this trip to Tony's West Coast villa, Rimuru had seen Tony's "wardrobe," and the impact it had on her was unprecedented.
Though she did not like Tony Stark's aesthetic taste, she had to admit that he had done a fantastic job this time!
How could a man's wardrobe not have a few pieces of women's clothing? Ahem, wrong... How could a man's wardrobe not have a few sets of Mecha?!
It was far more high-end, grand, and classy than a garage full of luxury cars, a wine cellar full of fine wine, or a walk-in closet full of designer bags!
Building Mecha was no simple task. Even with Aiya's help, it could not be completed in a short time.
Rimuru also wanted to see Feng Shen Two come into being sooner, so she simply asked her homeroom teacher, Mrs. Jacqueline, for a long half-month leave.
Originally, Rimuru had worried that Mrs. Jacqueline would not approve such a long leave. After all, Rimuru had spent very little time in class since transferring schools, and final exams were coming up soon.
What Rimuru had not expected was that Mrs. Jacqueline approved it right away without even asking why she needed leave.
The quality of that service was so good that Rimuru did not even know what to say.
If she ever overslept one day, would there be a special wake-up service too?
As the days passed, Rimuru threw herself into the laboratory, forgetting food and sleep. Feng Shen Two gradually transformed from blueprints into reality.
It kept Rimuru exceptionally busy every day, but she also felt unusually fulfilled and satisfied—so much so that she even lost track of time.
What Rimuru did not know was that while he had been burying himself in work, storms had been brewing outside.
First, after pulling every string he could, Damon finally got Mindy into Forest Hills Elementary School.
No matter how resistant Mindy was to school, Damon had made up his mind this time. Left with no choice, Mindy could only put on her backpack and go to school.
Watching Mindy sit in a bright, clean classroom, Damon was brimming with pride. Days without the Witch were wonderful!
He had carried out Rimuru's request to the letter and did not even intend to take a commission. He was merely waiting for Rimuru to contact him again.
Damon was not actually that resistant to working for the "Witch," but if the Witch wanted to get close to his daughter, she could forget it.
Never underestimate a father's determination!
He might have been as weak as a tiny ant in front of the Witch.
But even an ant, for his daughter's sake, would dare stretch its antennae toward the sun and flip the sun the middle finger.
There was no way a wealthy person like Rimuru would take a liking to a poor, rundown school like Forest Hills Elementary School, right?
Damon, the doting father, felt that this was in the bag!
Hawkeye's feelings were the complete opposite of Damon's.
The more Barton investigated, the angrier he became. That colleague impersonating him had gone way too far.
As an archer, he actually used the back of his bow in the vast majority of battles.
And he even called it "Physical Hypnosis." This was simply a disgrace to archers everywhere!
What Hawkeye found even more unacceptable was that the counterfeit was far too greedy. He claimed to punish evil and uphold justice, but in truth, he was harvesting wealth.
When Barton learned that the impostor had snatched one million from Kingpin and transferred six hundred million from Frank Amick, his fury immediately blazed.
What kind of joke was this?
He worked himself to the bone, getting up earlier than a chicken and going to bed later than a dog, yet he made less than ten thousand dollars a month.
He could barely remember the last time he had gotten a raise. Even this meager salary was often delayed...
Barton's sense of justice completely exploded. For America—no, for world peace—he had to humanely destroy that impostor.
Just as Hawkeye was vigorously investigating the fake Hawkeye, his intelligence was delivered to Kingpin's desk.
Snakes had snake paths, and rats had rat paths.
Compared to the lofty S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Kingpin's underlings were a mixed bag—or rather, they were hardly presentable—but there were simply too many of them!
If Hawkeye casually exchanged a few punches with some tattoo-covered guy performing street art on a corner while gathering information, he might have just beaten up one of Kingpin's men!
If he casually had a heart-to-heart chat with some scantily clad, warm and welcoming young lady, he might have hit it off with a streetwalker under Kingpin's protection.
Not to mention that Hawkeye wore skintight leather, carried a bow, and had a quiver on his back.
He was as conspicuous as a torch in the night!
And so, Hawkeye managed to obtain a "top-secret piece of intelligence" concerning one of Kingpin's major deals.
Arlington, Virginia.
"General Ross, you may be interested in this. In Milwaukee, a citizen drank a bottle of Guarana soda and got more of a kick than he expected. We suspect gamma poisoning!"
A female clerk handed a document to General Ross, who was smoking a cigar.
"What?"
General Ross instantly shot to his feet in excitement. This news was like a spring in the desert to him.
In an instant, he became utterly invigorated. It was as though he had become ten years younger, brimming with energy.
"Where was the soda bottled?"
Female clerk: "Brazil, Port of Porto."
Ross: "Send people to the bottling plant to find a white man. Don't make a move yet. If he sees them, he'll run!"
Female clerk: "Yes!"
After the clerk left, Ross's eyes became increasingly sharp.
If his initial pursuit of the Hulk had merely been part of his duties, driven by a soldier's sense of responsibility, honor, and mission—
then every time his daughter pleaded with him on Banner's behalf, his pursuit of the Hulk became tainted with personal resentment.
Put yourself in his shoes. As a father, could you imagine the precious daughter you had raised with your own hands marrying a monster that could fly into a rampage at any moment?
Don't talk to him about true love. How could different species even date?
He did not want a daughter of the Ross family giving birth to a green monster!
After one failed capture after another, Ross's original intentions had long since changed. He began to obsess over the Hulk's power to crush everything in its path!
Capturing the Hulk was no longer merely his duty or a personal grudge. It was also a stepping stone for his promotion—his lifelong... obsession!
PS: Thanks to "Blank" for the 99 book coin tip. "Blank never loses"—I'm a fan. Also, thinking of the Ex-Machina little sister from the movie version, Weapon Girl suddenly seems even cuter, doesn't she? Thanks again ^_^
