"Cough, cough... damn the Moonshadow Breath."
Black Ice spat out the blood-laced saliva in his mouth.
Standing on the wrecked front of the train, he surveyed the enormous crater around him, lingering fear sweeping through his heart.
The intense heat had formed an uneven layer of glassy material with an eerie sheen along the crater's inner walls.
Some areas had crystallized into black formations, while others still glowed fiery red, like slowly flowing lava.
Elsewhere, porous, whitish material resembling pumice had formed.
Temperatures reaching hundreds of degrees Celsius still enveloped the crater, scorching and deadly.
Even deadlier was the residual radiation permeating it.
If not for the considerable resistance provided by his Legendary Grade suit, he probably could not have remained in such an environment at all.
Feeling the prickling numbness throughout his body, Black Ice understood.
He had to leave this place as quickly as possible.
Nuclear radiation posed far too great a threat to him. Even as a Silver Tier being, he was nowhere near capable of ignoring it.
"Cough, cough!"
He spat out another mouthful of blood, but this time, it was actually black.
His condition was growing increasingly serious.
He took out a Recovery Potion and swallowed it.
Feeling his body recover, Black Ice did not hesitate. He crouched, gathered his strength for three seconds, then leaped.
Like a spring compressed to its limit, he propelled himself out of the crater through sheer physical strength.
While still airborne, he spotted the train's carriages lying on the ground like a dead snake.
He swept a cold glance over them, then paid them no further attention.
He had already wasted too much time here. He had to get away as quickly as possible.
He had utterly lost this civilization war.
Now his train had been destroyed as well.
