A fierce battle was underway.
"Watch out! Three o'clock! A Vengeful Spirit appeared! Kill it!"
The moment the Patrol Captain's voice rang out, a soldier lunged forward.
He swung his blade straight at the Red Vengeful Spirit's neck.
It sliced through as smoothly as a red-hot knife through butter.
A massive wound opened across the Vengeful Spirit's illusory neck.
The edges of the wound dissolved into motes of light that scattered into the air, and the disintegration kept spreading.
Having finished his attack, the soldier was just about to return to formation when a pair of enormous, illusory hands suddenly reached out of the ground and grabbed his ankles.
Instantly, his whole body turned cold, his movements slowed, and his rosy complexion rapidly faded to ashen gray.
"Watch out!"
The Patrol Captain's voice rang out.
He aimed his Hand Crossbow at the hands and fired.
An electric arc flashed across the bolt as it flew, striking the enormous hands.
Although the arms were illusory, the bolt struck as though they were solid flesh, piercing an arm and pinning it to the ground.
"Get him out of there!"
Someone had already seized the opportunity to rush forward, grab the soldier's arm, and drag him back.
But he quickly realized something was wrong. The soldier felt ice-cold, like a corpse.
When he checked beneath the soldier's nose for breath, he recoiled in horror.
"Captain, Little Five's dead!"
"What?!"
How was that possible?!
