The little orange cat was an illusion and weighed nothing. It clung to Shen Baili's ponytail as though they were charging ahead together.
In truth, from the moment A-Deng was born, she had been on Shen Baili's side.
A-Deng would always stand with Suìsuì.
Charge forward. Flatten every obstacle.
Shen Baili shared A-Deng's feelings. She could sense how badly they both wanted to win.
She stared straight ahead, her gaze growing more determined. Strength surged into her heavy legs.
The cheers were deafening, her breathing labored. Her heart felt ready to leap out of her chest.
Shen Baili and the runner ahead of her crossed the finish line together.

A-Deng landed steadily on Shen Baili's shoulder, waving her paws in delight.
Shen Baili bent over with her hands on her knees, gasping for air.
"We did it."
More runners came charging in behind her. Before long, a crowd had gathered around Shen Baili.

"Class Monitor, you should go to the Olympics! You were practically flying."
Meng Jiu'an and Ji Qi stood on either side of Shen Baili, worried she might collapse from exhaustion or get jostled. Their tall frames carved out a space for her.
"Suìsuì, are you okay?" Meng Jiu'an asked, his brow furrowing slightly.
Shen Baili's face was covered in sweat and as red as an apple. She shook her head lightly. "I'm okay. Just a little hot."
She rested where she stood for a while. Seeing this, Qiao Yi hurried over and took her arm.
Shen Baili smiled. "Thanks, Yi Yi."
"Let's go over there."
Shen Baili took Qiao Yi's hand and ran toward Ruan Mian, who was a short distance away.
