[That was when the older sister grew suspicious. Just yesterday, she had cornered the two of them in the hospital lobby. Her husband had been taking her cousin to the obstetrics and gynecology department to get an abortion.]

The woman in the front row was still fuming. "Your sister treated her so well and let her live with them, and she dared to seduce her sister's husband? I say she deserved that beating. You shouldn't have stopped your sister. She should've beaten her to death! What a shameless ingrate."

Now that they knew the whole story, everyone gave the woman a thumbs-up. She was right. The cousin was an ingrate who deserved a good beating.

"What? Did I hear that right? Your brother-in-law defended your cousin and tried to hit your sister?" The woman pushed up her sleeves. "I'm so mad. If I'd been there, I'd have slapped him twice myself."

"Oh, you punched him? That works too. I feel a little better now."

"That cheating bastard! How does he have the nerve to beg your sister to forgive him? He can go to hell!" the woman said through gritted teeth. "What? Your brother-in-law won't agree to a divorce? Wow. If I weren't in Y City, I'd get a cab over there right now and beat him senseless!"

"What about your sister? What did she say?"

"That's exactly what she should do. Divorce him, no question. Thank goodness they don't have kids yet—it would be even harder then. I'm all for your sister divorcing that cheating bastard. He and your cousin deserve each other. Let those two stay together forever!"

The woman launched into another rapid-fire tirade. Only after she finished and hung up did she notice how quiet the bus had become.

Silence held for more than ten seconds.
