Background / History

After the Sun Moon Empire’s confrontation with Tang San, the Plane Spirit sent a fraction of its forces roughly ten thousand years into the past. The survivors included two Soul Engineer Corps, around a thousand ordinary soldiers, and academy personnel, but much of their weaponry was lost. They established a temporary camp in the Flowing Cloud Mountain Range, near Spirit City 1 2 3.

Li Chen proposed calling the group the Sun Moon Sect when approaching Spirit Hall. Its representatives would pose as a merchant caravan from a long-secluded sect rather than disclose their origins. Ye Yulin and Zheng Zhan also claimed the sect had a level-99 Peerless Douluo leader; they privately acknowledged that this was a bluff intended to deter Spirit Hall from seizing their technology 4 5.

The sect secured an initial agreement to exchange finished Soul Tools for rare metals. Spirit Hall adopted its lamps and water heaters in Spirit City, while the sect opened shops there and kept production of its crucial Core Magic Arrays under its own control. Bibi Dong, wary of that dependence, ordered an investigation of the sect and sought to learn its methods 6 18.

Soul Tool production

• The sect launched a Soul Tool Satellite into orbit, gaining long-distance communication and ground-surveillance capability 15.
• Li Chen demonstrated a Soul Tool Hand Cannon to Heaven Dou representatives. The sect sought rare metals and funds through sales of lower-end military tools while expanding its own arsenal 23.

Relationships

• Spirit Hall — the sect’s first trading partner and a source of rare metals. Bibi Dong simultaneously investigates its claimed strength and seeks access to its core technology 5 6 18.
• Heaven Dou Empire — prospective buyer of Soul Tool Hand Cannons. The sect asks for 100,000 Gold Soul Coins per cannon, preferably paid in metals, and a 50-million-coin deposit for exclusive supply 23.
• Star Luo Empire — one of the rival powers Li Chen and Huo Yuhao plan to approach with a similar weapons arrangement 23.

Major Arcs

• Star Dou Great Forest: Kong Deming accompanies Li Chen and Huo Yuhao on a Soul Beast hunt while Spirit Hall’s Gui Mei secretly follows them. The expedition leads to a confrontation with Tang San’s party and Tang Hao 7 9 10 12.
• Sunset Forest: Sect members harvest immortal herbs at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Dugu Bo demands their return, but Kong Deming and the opposing party avoid a fight 21 22 23.
• Heaven Dou negotiations: After the standoff, Li Chen demonstrates the sect’s Soul Tools to Heaven Dou representatives. He and Huo Yuhao intend to use competing offers to draw the major powers into an arms race 23.
