Duet
There was no one in the vehicle.
The people resting in the shade beneath a large tree nearby stood up. One burly man with Whiskers said, "What's going on? Why are there two kids?"
Another woman wearing a sun hat said, "Forget it. As long as we have enough people, it's fine. Go call the Leader over."
The burly man frowned and muttered something before turning away.
The Sun Hat Woman said to Xiao Shu and Huangfu Miaomiao, "There aren't any seats left up front. You two can sit in the trunk later."
The trunk was not a proper seat. It was piled with all sorts of miscellaneous items, but Xiao Shu and Huangfu Miaomiao silently accepted it without exchanging a word.
Weak Players like them had never had much say.
The two went to the trunk and rearranged the clutter to make enough room for themselves. Before long, Whiskers returned with the Star Society's Leader beside him.
The Leader was a very ordinary-looking, short man, but the moment Huangfu Miaomiao saw him, her heart nearly leaped out of her throat!
Because he was carrying a cage.
A poison snake lay coiled inside it.
Above the snake was the label: "Senior Labyrinth Administrator."
It was not an ordinary Administrator! It was a Senior Administrator!
Xiao Shu exclaimed beside her, "Wow, the Star Society really is powerful. Is he going to take us to the Abyss Labyrinth?"
The Sun Hat Woman heard him and assumed Xiao Shu was afraid. She teased, "All the places nearby that are suitable for farming monsters and earning Points are full of Players. Even if you two went, you wouldn't be able to compete for any monsters. You might even get bullied. Following us into the Abyss Labyrinth is safer instead, understand?"
