Camel
Feng Ling had Third Child return to the rat hole from earlier, while Big Worm hid beneath the sand. She continued onward alone on foot.
Doomsday Judgment had failed to kill her. She could endure this heat too.
But her heart was full of doubts—freezing cold at night, scorching heat by day, and Sandstorms that never ceased. How was anyone supposed to play through a Maze like this?
The Taoist had said that every Maze was ultimately designed for Xenomorphs to play in. No matter how difficult it was, there had to be a limit. There had to be some mechanism here she had yet to discover.
The heat rapidly evaporated moisture. Every scale and every strand of hair exposed to the sunlight felt as though it were being baked in an oven.
If not for her deep resentment toward the Xenomorphs, Feng Ling would never have come to such a hellish place. In her current laborious state, she felt like she was suffering for no reason.
After trudging forward several hundred meters and climbing a sandy ridge, she looked out over a desert that, under the blazing sun, resembled a red-hot iron pot. There was not a single living creature in sight. Only several enormous Rocks lay amid the dunes, while blistering waves of heat warped everything into blurry shapes.
The sandstorm blotting out the sky was exactly three dunes away.
The sandstorm had not been this far away last night. Apparently, its range of movement differed between day and night.
Feng Ling exhaled a breath of hot air. Her throat felt ready to burst into flames.
Though she always had inexplicable confidence in herself, even she could not help wondering at that moment whether she would be roasted dry and turned into jerky.
That made no sense...
