In the Tsuchikage's Office, Ōnoki watched Deidara on the Canopy Screen, clamoring to dump his responsibilities and quit being Tsuchikage just because he had lost a card game.
Ōnoki was so furious he nearly stopped breathing. His graying mustache bristled as he slammed a hand on the desk and roared:
"You little brat! The Tsuchikage Position determines our village's honor, disgrace, rise, and fall! How dare you treat it like a game? You take it when you feel like it and hand it off when you don't? What kind of behavior is that?!"
His chest heaved violently, plainly enraged by the future Deidara's flippant attitude.
To him, the Tsuchikage Position was a weighty responsibility, an honor and duty to defend with his life. How could anyone casually hand it over just because they had no time to play cards?
Yet when his furious gaze swept once more across the dazzling Iwagakure on the Canopy Screen, brimming with futuristic technology and strange vitality.
His towering anger gradually deflated like a punctured balloon, turning into a long sigh laden with tangled emotions.
"Enough, enough!"
He recalled the menacing war cannons and armies armed to the teeth that Kumogakure had displayed on the Canopy Screen, as well as Konoha's unfathomably powerful Naruto Uzumaki.
"Konoha is at the height of its power, while Kumogakure waits like a tiger ready to pounce. It seems the future Shinobi World will remain as dangerous and turbulent as ever."
He looked at Deidara in the sky, still agonizing over winning and losing at cards, then at his composed, capable granddaughter Kurotsuchi standing beside him.
In the end, all those tangled emotions became a resigned murmur:
"Ah! If Iwagakure can survive and prosper in such a unique way between these two powerful enemies, perhaps this is already the best
