"What?!" Naruto nearly jumped at the news, but Sasuke held him down.
"Shh—keep your voice down!" Sasuke glanced around nervously, then said with utter seriousness, "Naruto, you're my best friend. That's why I'm telling you this."
"Please. The survival of the Uchiha depends on it!" He stared straight into Naruto's eyes. "The next time you see the Third Hokage, you have to tell him!"
"But whatever you do, don't say you heard it from me. If anyone asks, say you were fooling around and overheard it by accident. Please!"
Naruto saw the pleading in Sasuke's eyes—something he had never seen there before—and even a trace of fear.
Naruto Uzumaki felt the gravity of it too. His playful grin faded, replaced by the resolve of someone entrusted with an important task by a friend.
He thumped his chest, forgetting all about his ramen, and promised:
"Hey, I thought it was something worse! Don't worry, Sasuke! You said I'm your best friend, so your problem is my problem!"
He flashed a brilliant grin and gave a thumbs-up. "Leave it to me! I'll tell Hokage Grandpa!"
Seeing Naruto so fired up put Sasuke a little more at ease.
For now, this was the move most likely to change Shisui's fate.

Sasuke watched Naruto skip away and silently prayed, Please, Naruto. This time, we have to make it in time!
Night fell, and an invisible tension hung over the Uchiha Residence.
When Sasuke returned home, he spotted his older brother, Itachi Uchiha, sitting alone on the veranda. Itachi gazed into the dark garden, his brows faintly drawn, his delicate face clouded with sorrow.
He looked unbearably lonely, as though a crushing weight rested on him.
Sasuke's heart tightened. Of course he knew what troubled his brother. The
