Kabuto Yakushi's Proposal

Then he pulled Yor behind a huge metal dumpster. A barrage of attacks tore through the spot where they had been standing.

"Miss Yor!" Amid the explosions and the enemies' frenzied shouting, Kabuto Yakushi turned to face her. In the flickering firelight, his expression was unusually solemn and sincere.

He raised the liquid bomb he had snatched earlier. Its metal ring gleamed coldly in the moonlight, with what looked like a small notch at its center.

"I know this is sudden, and I know we didn't start out in the usual way." His voice was quiet, but it carried clearly through the explosions. "But tonight's danger made me realize how uncertain this world is."

"I don't want to face all this alone anymore. And I don't want you to bear those stares alone."

He held out the bomb's metal ring to Yor. "This may not be the most proper token, but right now, it represents my resolve."

"Miss Yor, for Anya's sake and our own, will you truly accept this relationship? Will you live with me and face whatever the future brings together? Will you marry me?"

Yor froze. She looked at the man confessing so earnestly amid the gunfire, then at the strangely meaningful "ring" he had taken on the battlefield. Her heart began to pound uncontrollably.

Emotion, impulse, and the thought that "the mission needed this" surged through her at once.

She nodded hard without the slightest hesitation and held out her gloved hand. "I will, Mr. Loid!"

Kabuto Yakushi carefully slipped the metal ring onto Yor's finger.

Almost at the same instant, his gaze sharpened. He hurled the acid bomb he had seized earlier back toward the densest cluster of enemies!

"Take cover!"

He pulled Yor down with him.
