Tailmon stepped forward, placed a forepaw against her chest, and knelt on one knee with solemn reverence.
"I, Tailmon, have followed an ancient oath and sensed the power of a Saint awakening within you, along with the purity of your light."
"I pledge my loyalty to you. For the rest of my life, I will be the sword in your hand, fight beside you, drive out the darkness, and protect the light."
Jade stared at her, dumbfounded. She instinctively took half a step back and waved both hands.
"Me? A Saint? You've got the wrong person! I'm just an ordinary student from Kirigakure who knows a little Ninjutsu!"
She had no idea what was going on. An oath from three thousand years ago? A Saint? It sounded like one of the myths in Uncle's old books.
Tailmon shook her head firmly. The crescent mark on her forehead glowed faintly in the moonlight.
"The power of the oath guided me. The aura within you resonated with the mark of a Saint in my people's ancient memories."
"I'm not mistaken. Please accept my loyalty. This is not only my mission, but also the key to facing the calamity that awaits the world."
Jade looked into Tailmon's sincere eyes, then sensed a vague impression from Samehada on her back: She doesn't seem to mean any harm. Jade rubbed her forehead.
But the village was in chaos. This was clearly no time to puzzle over something that sounded like a fairy tale.
"All right, all right!" Jade sighed, deciding to go along with this bizarre situation for now. "You said you were their adviser before? Can you make these monsters stop wrecking everything, or send them back?"
She asked without much hope.
Tailmon stood and shook her head, her voice apologetic.
"I'm afraid I
