After reaching an understanding with Zabuza Momochi and his companion, Team 7 escorted Tazuna along the final stretch to the Land of Waves. At last, the journey was peaceful.
They bickered all the way there and successfully completed their escort mission.
At Tazuna's warm invitation, they tried some local specialties: Salt-Grilled Saury made with fresh sea fish and a distinctive blend of spices; soft, chewy Three-Colored Dango with a hint of sweetness; and Seaweed Soup made from a local variety of seaweed, which had an unusual flavor but was said to be highly nourishing.
Naruto made a huge fuss over the food. Sasuke said nothing, but ate two extra skewers of grilled fish, while Sakura took an interest in the supposed benefits of the Seaweed Soup.
During their stay, they also heard scattered, satisfied comments from the villagers about what had happened to Gato and his followers.
Word was that they had died horribly. Every last one had been cut down by an enormous blade, leaving organs strewn across the ground. For days, no one dared go near the place.
The shadow that had hung over the Land of Waves had been torn out by the roots overnight. It was gone for good.
At the news, Kakashi looked thoughtfully into the distance. Naruto and the others understood, too. That was the man's way of keeping his promise.
