"Save me, sir!"
Seliphina was hoisted high into the air. Her legs kicked feebly, and she wriggled like a puppy caught by the scruff.
"How is this possible? Human! Weren't you asleep?!"
Marée Alaira stumbled back several steps, then turned to flee.
But before she could take a step, Bai Xuan summoned a wisp of Immortal Energy. It formed a giant white hand that snatched her into the air in an instant!
Then he grabbed a dragon tail in each hand and held the two little dragons upside down.
"Human! Let me go!"
Bai Xuan studied the two little troublemakers and asked, "Tell me. What were you planning?"
"It wasn't my idea! Marée Alaira put me up to it!" Seliphina gave up her companion without hesitation, her voice full of panic and an eagerness to please.
"Damn you, Seliphina! How dare you betray me!" Marée Alaira glared at her through gritted teeth.
"How is that betrayal? I call it knowing which way the wind blows!" Seliphina protested.
"Enough." Bai Xuan cut off their argument. "Tell me the truth. What were you planning to do?"
"It was Marée Alaira!"
Seliphina rushed to tell him everything. "She wanted to get you drunk on dragon juice! Master, you have to teach her a lesson!"
"Shut up, Seliphina!" Marée Alaira roared. Then she turned to Bai Xuan, her tone suddenly softening. "Human—let me explain. I came to put medicine on you!"
"Medicine?"
"That's right!"
Marée Alaira hurriedly held up the bottle of oddly colored liquid and explained in earnest, "This is dragon juice treasured by the dragons. It's especially good for your skin. It doesn't just make you look younger—it can even make you live forever!"
"Are you serious?"
Bai Xuan frowned.
Skincare was one thing, but immortality? Where had that come from?
