Background and History

Su Yue left Ideal City after its research department experimented on her and other young Espers. She had been brought there at age eight and escaped after an experiment failed. Back in Ninghang City, her unusual Superpower drew the attention of both the Investigation Bureau and the Evil Organization, neither of which she wanted controlling her 35 79.

As a transfer student, she offered Bai Xuan homemade pudding and tried to influence him with her ability. His resistance intrigued her. When the Evil Organization attacked her near Qiantang Bridge, Bai Xuan—concealing his identity behind a Slime Mask—and Marée Alaira intervened. Su Yue later negotiated with him for protection, providing a secluded place to stay and Magic Stones in return 30 31 36 43 53.

Seeking freedom from both organizations, Su Yue arranged to have the restrictions on her collar removed, at the cost of Investigation Bureau resources and protection. She then activated Existence Erasure, intending to make everyone forget her before rebuilding an ordinary life through memory modification. The effect escaped her control: even her butler could no longer recognize or perceive her. Bai Xuan remained able to see her and encouraged her to master her power herself 62 69 73 74.

Su Yue stayed with Bai Xuan while working to restore her presence. After she realized he was the man in the Slime Mask, he invited her to join his organization; she accepted and moved to Lakeside Villa. Her recognition gradually returned, culminating in Bai Yu remembering who she was 75 113 114 154.

Personality

Su Yue presents herself as gracious and poised, but firmly resists being treated as an asset by either the Investigation Bureau or the Evil Organization. She is willing to bargain for help rather than surrender control of her life. Losing everyone’s recognition leaves her frightened and dependent on Bai Xuan, though his encouragement helps her resume training 35 43 53 73 74.

She grows playful and comfortable around Bai Xuan, but remains sensitive about her limited control and whether she can contribute to his group. She is eager to show him new progress, even as she worries that her developing reality-modification power will mature too slowly to help against impending calamities 108 191.

Existence Erasure and Memory Modification

Existence Erasure removes awareness of Su Yue and obscures information connected to her, including records and photographs. She originally intended to use Memory Modification afterward to establish a new life, but could not reverse the erasure when it went out of control 69 73.

• Its effects leave people unable to recognize or even perceive her, despite her remaining physically present 69.
• Her recovery is gradual: some people can see and speak to her before others can, and recognition may still fade quickly 122 139.

Reality Modification

Su Yue later develops the ability to change the fundamental nature of simple objects. Her demonstrated change from an apple to a hamster is temporary, and she expects full mastery to take considerably longer 191.
