Barry Allen's consciousness drifted on an ocean of fear.
He could still think. He could still sense.
He could clearly feel his body running at over Mach 20. Driven by the Speed Force, every muscle and nerve performed beyond its limits.
But he could control none of it.
He was like a ghost locked inside his own body, forced to watch the shell called "Barry Allen" charge forever and in vain through a single picosecond caught in an Infinite Loop.
And the only spectator to this bizarre scene was that man.
Link Gale.
He stood quietly before Barry, his expression a complex blend of curiosity, appreciation, and indifference. He looked like a master mechanic studying an exquisitely built super-engine that had spun out of control.
"Beautiful... the Speed Force."
Link reached out as though to touch the golden arcs leaping wildly around Barry.
"It isn't merely energy or simple physical acceleration. It's more like... a fundamental law of the universe, the concept of 'motion' itself made manifest in the Reality Dimension."
His voice echoed through the frozen world, every word searing itself into Barry's mind.
"I'm curious, Barry. You have such tremendous power, yet all you use it for is catching thieves and saving kittens. Don't you think that's a kind of sacrilege?"
Barry could not answer.
All he could do was stare in horror as Link's hand slowly drew closer.
Just as Link's fingers were about to touch the layer of golden electricity—
Crackle!
As if sensing an intruder, the Speed Force suddenly erupted!
The arcs that had merely surrounded Barry swelled into a raging sea of thunder! Golden lightning lashed out in every direction, tearing at the frozen dimension of time.
The entire motionless world began to flicker and warp violently, like a television signal on the verge
