The world was quieter than it had ever been.

The public's adoration of him reached its peak. They saw him as Superman's successor—a stronger, more decisive guardian.

Governments around the world silently accepted the existence of this "world ruler" and cautiously followed the New Order he had laid down.

Yet the architect of that New Order seemed uninterested in any of it.

He gave no more speeches, seized control of no governments, and did not even appear in public again.

It was as though he had vanished from the world.

The deepest reaches of the Mariana Trench, beneath the South Pacific.

A vast silver-white metal base, utterly at odds with its surroundings, hovered silently in absolute darkness and stillness, enduring water pressure powerful enough to crush anything.

This was Link's true "Throne."

The laboratory at the heart of the base was spotless white, without a speck of dust in sight.

Dressed in a white lab coat, Link calmly watched a massive cylindrical energy field before him.

At its center floated a tiny pinch of gray powder, finer than dust.

That was all that remained of Doomsday.

After thoroughly "purifying" him with Heat Vision in outer space, Link had collected the remains with a specially designed energy field and brought them back as his prize.
