The colossal warship hung in the void like a black blade. It was the throne of Thanos, the Mad Titan, and the mobile fortress from which he conquered the universe.
At that moment, the throne hall was deathly silent.
Thanos sat upon his throne, his immense body seeming to merge with the starfield behind him, radiating an eternal, cold sense of oppression.
A tall, thin figure stood below him.
The figure wore an elegant robe. His skin was ashen, his face withered, like a walking mummy, yet his eyes gleamed with intelligence and cruelty.
He was Thanos's most capable adviser, the leader of the Black Order—Ebony Maw.
"Father."
Ebony Maw's voice was as soft as a feather, yet carried a faint hiss, like a serpent flicking its tongue.
"The news has been confirmed. That earthly false god who calls himself Link gathered the laws of four Stones—Space, Time, Reality, and Power—during his conflict with Apokolips."
Thanos remained expressionless, merely tapping the armrest of his throne with his massive, gold-gloved hand. Every tap sent a tremor through the space of the entire hall.
Of course he knew.
He had sensed it when Link gathered three Stones and triggered a resonance of laws at Kamar-Taj. And when Link and Darkseid, two of the universe's most powerful beings, clashed with their laws on Apokolips, the escaping fluctuations, mingling the power of Omega and infinity, had blazed before his eyes as clearly as fireworks in the night.
