The air was filled with the Energy Shield's low hum and the earthy tang of soil swept up by fierce winds. Wakanda's warriors held Vibranium Spears and formed black defensive lines, their heartbeats magnified a thousandfold in the silence, pounding like heavy drums.
At last, Thanos' Landing Craft reached the edge of the Energy Shield.
There was no warning, no call to surrender.
War began in the most direct, most savage way possible.
The Landing Craft's bay doors swung open in midair. Then, as though the gates of hell had opened, endless monsters leaped from the dark holds.
They were Outriders.
These twisted creatures had four or even six arms, claws like knives, and protruding fangs. Their eyes burned with pure hunger for life and hatred of it. They had no reason, no fear. Their only instinct was to obey their master's orders—to slaughter and destroy.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Thousands upon thousands of Outriders slammed into Wakanda's Energy Shield like a black rainstorm. With their bodies, claws, and teeth, they frantically tore at and battered the blue curtain of light.
Every impact burst into a mangled spray of flesh and blood, but more Outriders immediately took their place, surging forward one after another like an endless black tide determined to swallow the barrier whole.
Across the shield's surface, ripples began
to spread, and it groaned beneath the unbearable strain. Inside the command center, the readings for the shield's energy were dropping at an alarming rate.
