Ch. 241The Three Asura Gods Had Returned
Plot points and events
- Tang San reveals a stone shard bearing the Clear Sky Hammer Crest, provoking the King of Slaughter. The underground seal suppresses most Soul Skills, so Yuan Yu fights with his blade and physical skill while Tang San uses the Sea God Trident to hold open a small area of Divine Light.
- The three confront the king, who retreats underground. Hu Liena spots a blocked side passage and helps free four shackled Medicine Workers, guiding them toward an escape route.
- In the plaza, Tang San recognizes the king’s swordwork as techniques taught by his father, Tang Hao. Though uncertain of the king’s identity, he deliberately avoids a potentially lethal strike. Yuan Yu urges him to stay on his feet long enough to ask questions.
- The Blood Pool begins dragging fallen souls into it. Hu Liena opens a diversion gate to drain the bloodwater, while Yuan Yu and Tang San keep the king at bay.
- A Hammer Crest gesture from the king causes Tang San’s shard to glow. The Trident’s light reveals an old chest wound, and Hu Liena senses two conflicting forces within the king: someone—or something—is inhabiting his body.
- Working together, the three briefly break through the seal’s suppression. Tang San sustains the Divine Light, Yuan Yu stabilizes the collapsing platform, and Hu Liena identifies where the hidden Spiritual Power is strongest.
- The king drives his sword into his own wound, releasing Black-Red Aura and a distorted laugh. A voice challenges them for trying to take Tang Chen’s body. Tang San demands that they let Tang Chen out.
Character developments and interactions
- Tang San grows increasingly convinced the King of Slaughter is connected to his family, but restrains himself until he has proof. His choice to protect the king from a killing blow shows both caution and emotional conflict.
- Yuan Yu remains the group’s frontline protector, combining force with control: he gives Tang San room to investigate, shields him under pressure, and preserves the escape route.
- Hu Liena demonstrates familiarity with the underground passages and acts decisively to rescue the captives. She also identifies the divided Spiritual Power inside the king.
- The three coordinate closely: Tang San maintains the protective light, Yuan Yu holds the enemy and stabilizes the terrain, and Hu Liena scouts, rescues, and directs their attacks.
Significant themes
- Identity and possession: The king’s familiar techniques and signs of inner conflict suggest Tang Chen may be trapped within another force.
- Restraint and trust: Tang San refuses to act on suspicion alone, while the others support his effort to uncover the truth.
- Cooperation under constraint: With their powers suppressed and the battlefield collapsing, the trio relies on complementary skills.
- Mercy amid violence: They prioritize the captives and the threatened fallen souls even while fighting a dangerous enemy.
