Ch. 141Trust?

The Rover, Lu Hess, Mo Bai, Aemeath, and Napomo explored the space station, with Mo Bai transporting the group through its spatial gaps and Aemeath hacking its facilities. At the final hall, the group found Napomo staggering ahead of them, despite having left her behind to rest.

  • Napomo promised not to reveal the Rover’s secret, while Mo Bai and Aemeath remained suspicious of her.
  • Mo Bai transported the team through the station, and the Rover had them stop so Napomo could recover from the disorienting trips.
  • Lu Hess suggested Napomo stay behind while the others continued, and she reluctantly agreed.
  • Aemeath hacked the station’s malfunctioning facilities and helped the team solve the puzzles on their way deeper inside.
  • The remaining four reached the final hall and saw Napomo staggering toward them.

Ch. 142The Corrupted Pioneer

Napomo was attacked by a spacesuited Tacet Discord in the space station, and Mo Bai protected her while Lu Hess checked her injuries. Mo Bai recognized the enemy as a pioneer corrupted by Void Matter and heard the man’s plea to be put to rest.

  • Napomo followed a hidden passage through the eerie station and was struck by the spacesuited enemy.
  • Mo Bai caught Napomo before she hit the ground, and Lu Hess took her to examine her injuries.
  • Mo Bai refused Rover’s offer to help, intending to face the enemy alone while Rover’s frequency was diminished.
  • Mo Bai recalled that the corrupted Pioneer had sealed himself inside his hibernation pod to keep Void Matter from harming others.
  • The corrupted Pioneer approached Mo Bai and pleaded to be put to rest, and Mo Bai agreed.

Ch. 143Old Friend

  • Mo Bai told Rover that Flying Snow Velvet had stayed at the station and used his shadow to connect with the frequency there.

Ch. 145The Ghost's Past

Mo Bai showed Rover and Aemeath projections of Aemeath’s past companions, prompting Rover to worry that Aemeath’s constant cheerfulness concealed her grief. After Mo Bai left them alone, the two spoke about Aemeath’s memories and Mo Bai before a crash outside interrupted them.

  • Mo Bai projected memories of Aemeath’s classmates praising her, and Aemeath explained that the projections let her remember companions erased by Voidmatter Magnetic Storms.
  • Aemeath recalled her enthusiasm for researching Void Matter and demonstrated that, as a Digital Ghost, she could pass through objects and travel across Lahai Luo.
  • Mo Bai noticed Rover’s downcast mood, told her to rest, and left her alone with Aemeath.
  • Rover told Aemeath that smiling constantly must be exhausting, but Aemeath insisted she was happy and teased Rover about defending Mo Bai.
  • A deafening crash sounded outside, and Rover and Aemeath rushed toward it.

  • Mo Bai told Rover, "Let's go back together, Rover."

Ch. 154"A Happy Ending"

Aemeath performed a farewell concert at the Academy, where she and Mo Bai supported the exhausted Rover and took a final photo together. After meeting Lynae and confronting his own instinct to help his friends despite his doubts, Mo Bai left for Roy Icefield, expecting someone else to be headed there too.

  • Aemeath sang for her fans at the Academy after regaining the ability to appear physically, while Mo Bai and Rover watched from the audience.
  • Aemeath noticed Rover's exhaustion and took her back to the dorm to rest after taking a photo with Rover and Mo Bai.

  • Mo Bai left the Academy aboard a train-sized Shikigami and headed for a Void Matter lake in Roy Icefield.

Ch. 155Cause and Effect

Mo Bai confronted Aemeath as she prepared to enter the Void Matter Lake and understood she had to travel into the past to preserve the events that created Lahai Luo. The Rover followed Aemeath into the lake, completed the time loop, and surfaced beside a mysterious girl resembling Mo Bai.

  • Mo Bai sensed his Cursed Energy covering the Tunneler’s Greatsword and recognized the connection as cause and effect.
  • Mo Bai found Aemeath at the lake and realized she planned to travel into the past to ensure the Tunneler sealed Aleph-1 and Lahai Luo came to exist.

  • Mo Bai told the Goddess that he had never expected to choose death, then accused her of rigging his initial draw to give him the Ten Shadows Technique.
  • The Goddess admitted she had chosen Mo Bai for reincarnation because of his hesitation and contradictions, and said she had wanted him as her ideal protagonist.
  • Mo Bai accused the Goddess of giving him Cursed Energy and the Ten Shadows Technique so she could watch him die in a spectacular sacrifice.
  • The Goddess explained that Mo Bai had crossed over because of the part of himself he had hated, and Mo Bai reflected that Solaris's cause and effect had been resolved and Aemeath was safe.
  • Mo Bai began asking what would happen next, but the Goddess interrupted him and asked whether he wanted to go back.
