I ate steak late last night and had a terrible bout of diarrhea. I barely slept all night, so I'm taking a day off.
The war arc is pretty much over at this point. Personally, I'm not all that satisfied with how I wrote this war.
During the buildup to the war, I had a lot going on at home over the Spring Festival, and I was also slacking off quite a bit, so it ended up feeling a little too drawn out. That included the Emperor's appearances, the early preparations, and the maneuvering between the various factions before the war.
Then, as some readers have pointed out, this war didn't seem "satisfying" enough. Looking back on it now, I did take a relatively traditional approach to writing it, rather than getting straight to the payoff.
There were three main reasons.
First, although the protagonist had a strong presence, he still wasn't the central figure in this war. Its central figures were Raul, the Countess of Arabel, and Tugin, the Great Ork Khan, so it was difficult to work out how to allocate the spotlight.
Second, the protagonist was still relatively weak within the Realms at this point. At level 10, it was hard for him to take center stage in a war. As I mentioned earlier, his strength put him in a rather awkward position. He was obviously much stronger than ordinary soldiers, but could he really be considered a hero unit? Not really. He was stuck in an awkward middle ground.
Third, Khorne's Power really is a little difficult to write. If I don't go deep enough, it doesn't feel intense enough; if I let loose, the story can easily fall apart. With too little gore, readers don't get much of a thrill in the current climate, but
